The Boat of Odysseus! Kolyvri Island, the ancient “Boat of Odysseus,” a stone landmark rising from the sea. As Odysseus was trying to safely return home, Poseidon rose in judgment. With a single act of divine will, he halted Odysseus’ ship at the threshold of the island, turning vessel and crew into living rock. There remains to this day — Kolyvri, the petrified ship — rising from the sea like a hero, frozen mid-journey, its prow lifted, its oar forever poised, as though time itself had been commanded to stop. Less rock than memory, it stands as an eternal marker of defiance, longing, and return, known to every Corfiot sailor.
