Rent a yacht in Zakynthos with or without a skipper

Renting a boat in Zakynthos offers you the choice of sailing with or without a skipper, catering to your sailing experience and preferences. When you opt for a skipper, you can access many benefits that enhance your sailing experience. Skippers are seasoned professionals with expert knowledge of the local waters and navigational challenges. Their expertise ensures a smooth and secure sailing journey, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. With a skipper at the helm, you can rest assured that you and your group are in capable hands.

Additionally, skippers possess intimate knowledge of Zakynthos' hidden gems, best spots, and scenic routes. They can guide you to lesser-known destinations, secluded coves, and idyllic beaches that may not be marked on traditional maps. Their insights add a touch of adventure and discovery to your trip, giving you a unique perspective of the island.

If you are an experienced sailor or have the necessary qualifications, renting a boat without a skipper grants you the freedom to chart your course. However, certain conditions must be met before you can take the reins. Firstly, depending on the size and type of boat you wish to rent, you'll need a valid sailing license or certification. The boat owner will require proof of your sailing proficiency to ensure the safety of everyone on board. Navigating the waters around Zakynthos requires some expertise, as there may be hidden dangers, shallow areas, or navigational challenges that you need to navigate confidently.

When is the best time to charter a boat in Zakynthos?

The best time for a yacht rental in Zakynthos is during the summer months, spanning from May to October. This season blesses the island with warm temperatures, welcoming sea breezes, and clear, sunny skies. The climate creates an idyllic setting for sailors. During the summer, Zakynthos comes alive with vibrant energy, and the island's coastal towns and beaches are bustling with activity. With temperatures averaging 25°C to 30°C, you can relish the warmth and bask in the sun's rays while cruising the azure waters. The tranquil waters of the Ionian Sea during this time of year offer smooth sailing, making it an excellent choice for sailors of all skill levels.

While summer is the peak tourist season in Zakynthos, visiting during the shoulder months of May and October offers a fantastic alternative. The weather remains pleasant and inviting during these periods, but the tourist crowds begin to wane, creating a more serene atmosphere. Exploring the island's charming villages, cultural landmarks, and picturesque landscapes becomes even more enjoyable without the hustle and bustle of peak-season tourism.

Zakynthos is an excellent place to relax. The beautiful island can best be explored with a rental car and the turquoise coasts with a rental boat (no license needed for small boats until 30PS). We can highly recommend Zakynthos!
