Yacht charter in United Kingdom · Westerly — Centaur (1975)

Depth sounder didn’t work (not good at all) VHF radio at sea didn’t work only close to marinas Sink water didn’t work he gave us a water container WC flushed but wouldn’t pull sea water in Bilge pump didn’t work bilge and engine compartment were full of water Carpet was soaked from the start and had a cross cross plastic mesh underneath on top of the floor. Leaks on windows and saloon hatch, One of the crew had to move out of his bunk at the rear, 4 am in the morning with soaking sleeping bag. Cockpit Compass glass crazed and difficult to read. Tiller contact with rudder had loads of play in it. Spray hood leaked. Hatch very difficult to open and close. Anchor chain over rusted. No reef lines on main sail. Gas not working, had to use camping gas stove provided on top of gimballed stove All electric switches and sockets hanging off. Had a good engine, didn’t start the morning we got there but engineer fixed the loose terminals behind key starter No wind vane on top of mast Man overboard light not working Mould growth on and underneath headlining Only one set of cutlery on board No cups or mugs we borrowed from Marina cafe No torch Boat sailed well and I’ve sailed on a few Centaurs Would have been nice to have some distress flares on board as well as an inflatable tender or life raft This sailing vessel Oyster needs loads of improvements before anyone sails it let alone putting it up for charter 45 years of owning and chartering boats Oyster is by far the worst I have set foot on I have RYA Yachtmaster offshore sailing and Powerboat certification

A lovely boat. The owner was very friendly and customer focused. It was a pleasant experience sailing on the boat
