In july and august, reservation for one day only a few days before the forcasted day, rental at the week beeing prefered. I've been sailing forever, it is no coincidence that my choice fell on a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 29.2. In sailing the furling mainsail is simple and safe to handle, the genoa also has a retractor. The electronics are complete: anemometer, wind vane, GPS plotter, depth sounder, speedometer, log, VHF DSC, Navtex, autopilot. Its equipment will ensure you an optimal comfort : large cockpit with table and cushions, bimini and big extension of bimini, sprayhood, electric windlass, marine toilet, indoor shower, outside shower, sundeck before, radio MP3 (USB, SD, jack, bluetooth), gas, pressurized hot water, refrigerator. Masks, snorkels, fins and a small tender to dismount are available. Normal tender onboard. It allows 4 beds in two closed cabins. The WC has a black water tank. The Yanmar 3 cylinder 21 hp engine is widely sized. It is moored at the port of Golfe-Juan, ideal base for the Lérins Islands, Cap d'Antibes, or Esterel. Of course I know perfectly the whole coast from Italy to Toulon, I can advise you on idyllic anchorages and risk areas. If you want a little smaller, I have a Sun Way 25 in Golfe-Juan also. Yann and his boat were very nice. He welcomed us, explained all of the particulars and off we went. The boat was easy use. The sail configuration was also very cool and adjustable. In our three days we found range of conditions, 18 k winds one day and then calm motoring type days. The boat was great in each, a combination of sporty and relaxed. All in all a real pleasure.
Had a great day on the water! Yann’s attention to detail was readily apparent, as everything on the boat was perfectly placed and taken care of. Furthermore, he provided an extremely useful map of the local area, and made some excellent recommendations of places to go/anchor. Would definitely rent the boat again!
Yann is very nice, communicative and did a great job with the boat briefing. The boat is older, yet looks neat and clean with ample of kitchen stuff and water toys. Unfortunately the main sail got stuck rolling in the mast so it took us an hour extra. We first sailed out with Yann to make sure the sail would unfurl. At the end we got the main up and down ourselves but only after jerking hard. Under sail the boat handles well, yet the boat propeller makes quite some noise going over 5 kts. On the way back the pin and spring connecting the main to the traveller broke making it impossible to sail the boat. The dock is very narrow so make sure you can control the boat well when returning. All in all we had a fun day in the sun but hope we could have sailed more.
We had an excellent time on Yann's boat. Harbored in a perfect location to hop around Cannes, Antibes and The Lérins Islands.
