Hugh Angleman — Mayflower Brigantine Ketch (1960)
Description of Captain Andrew's sailboat
Sailboat Hugh Angleman Mayflower Brigantine Ketch 15.85m
Sail aboard Mayflower, a small traditional tall ship, and the only Pirate Ship charter out of Newport Harbor! Mayflower is one of a short run of whimsical storybook sailing ships designed by Hugh Angleman in Costa Mesa in the late 1950's and early 1960's. She was built almost entirely of teak at the American Marine Shipyard in Hong Kong. She features plenty of open deck-space to lounge and enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze as well as a protected pilothouse inside which you can enjoy the view but don't have to be out in the elements. She also has many interesting nooks and crannies full of fine craftsmanship and nautical equipment to appreciate and learn about! The pilot house adjoins the two cabins: the Great Cabin for guests, and the Crew Cabin. The Great Cabin includes two single bunks which are convertible into near-queens and have an optional bulkhead between them. When they are singles, there is a small table with bench seating in between. Shelves, side-table drawers, and a hanging locker (closet) are all available for guest use, along with a private head (bathroom). The crew cabin has a full galley (kitchen), in which the crew prepares meals for multi-day trips. Once aboard, we will unfurl the sails and make way through the harbor and into the Pacific to enjoy coastal ocean views! Day trips will take us along the coast as far as Dana Point, depending on duration and conditions. Multi-day drips can go up the coast to Long Beach or Santa Barbara, down the coast to San Diego, or across the channel to Catalina or the Channel Islands, depending on the duration of the trip. Our First Mate is also a ServeSafe certified Ship's Cook, and is able to design meal plans to accommodate most dietary restrictions. All trips lasting more than one day have the option of adding basic meal service at no extra charge!
