Deep marina that is easily accessible and offers access to some great sailing to the nearby islands. Lovely town, and good to see the large ocean racing yachts. Car parking can be difficult during busy times and the marina is busy (moored several boats deep) but with excellent facilities. Highly recommended a great place to start a sailing trip.

A great base but, from the UK, quite difficult to get to by public transport. BA flights to Nantes are evening and the transfer to La Trinite by train and bus takes about three to four hours and can only be done the following day, necessitating a night in a hotel in Nantes on the way there. The return journey is easier and can be completed in half a day.

La Trinite is a good location to sail from and has good local facilities. There are many lovely places to visit with some very interesting histories. In June, we found that there are relatively limited berthing spaces outside the main ports which have water and/or electric. Be prepared for anchoring & rafting up.

La Trinité is the ideal spot to find a choice of boats and to cruise to the isles, the golfe du Morbihan and the surrounding tidal rivers. Last year we did Houat, Hoedic (moored for lunch) and the tour of Belle Ile (moored for bathing). This time we chose to cruise down the river of Auray to St Goustan, back to Locmariaquer for a pit stop, then towards the golfe. We moored behind Ile Longue for lunch and bathing, then headed to Larmor Baden, around Ile aux Moines and Ile d'Arz. This is a great tour for a 1-day rental. Just be extra careful with motor and sailing boat traffic that might really be heavy at times in the golfe or upon reentry in the channel to la Trinite. I strongly advise that one crew member is on the lookout in addition to the pilot who can be busy watching for the cardinal buoys.
