Mykonos, known as the ‘Wind Island’ for its strong winds in the summer, is a magnificent island with wonderful beaches and a unique landscape of raw beauty that is worth discovering by boat. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a selfie with one of its landmark windmills in the background. If you go on a boating trip around the island, you will have the chance to bask in the Mediterranean sun on remote beaches such as Phocos and Merkaria, away from the crowds that flock to the island in the summer You can also visit several nearby islands in the Cyclades, such as beautiful Paros and picturesque Naxos. Not far from Mykonos is the uninhabited island of Delos - a real gem that epitomises the unique allure of Ancient Greece and its architecture.
Some marinas you should know about on Mykonos are Tourlos Marina, Mikonos Marina and Santa Marina Resort Mykonos. Tourlos Marina is large and can accomodate 222 boats. Mykonos Marina will take 30 boats while Santa Marina Resorts Mykonos is a luxury 5 star resort with berthing facilities for those with yachts.
Mykonos is just one of many beautiful islands in the Cyclades and you can sail to the others from Mykonos to see even more incredible landscapes and white sands.
After entering a marina and stepping onto land you will find yourself on an island bursting with history and culture and countless ways to spend you time here. We recommend spending your mornings in Chora if you visit this town, the main town on Mykonos, as you will be protected from the midday sun and be able avoid the crowds also. Then why not head to one of the island's famous lighthouses? Make sure you also make a visit to 'Little Venice' too with its vibrantly coloured seafront houses now occupied by restaurants and bars. Be sure to book a table if you plan on eating here in the evening though as it soon fills up! Matoyianni street is the busiest in Mykonos for a reason - the shops here are stunning and sell items from cheap souvenirs right up to luxury goods. If you fancy soaking in some sun then head to Paradise beach or Agrari beach. But whilst you are on Mykonos make sure you try out some of the local seafood - traditional Greek seafood is something the area is famous for.
The best time to visit Mykonos is different for everyone. As with the rest of the Mediterranean, the area sees a busy summer period, or 'high-season', where tourists flood the streets and beaches are full. But a boat charter in Mykonos is a great way to avoid the crowds. You can enjoy the views of the island from a different angle, still enjoy the streets in the morning when they are quieter and take your yacht charter to the more secluded beaches to avoid the crowds. The weather is hottest from June to September and this time of year the waters are heavenly to swim in. May and October are still quite warm too but you may find that a few shops and restaurants close during this time - but that's ok because you will find that hotels are much cheaper during this period too.

Mykonos is an amazing place full of energy and lovely spots. All the beaches are incredible , Mykonos Town is magic and the vibe is second to none!!! Our base is in Ornos so we can avoid the north wind and we usually sail towards the sacred islands opposite Mykonos, Delos and Rhenia or the Southern Coast of Mykonos!
Beautiful island, with lot's to see and do. Populated mostly with young people but not only. Touristic utilities can be a little costly and tourist traps are around, so one should do a little research and window-shop before buying anything. The weather is amazing, nice islands around. A stay should be between 48H to 1W.
It was the best we did on the island of Mykonos. Dimitris is a very kind and excellent tour guide. I will definitely do it again.
