Jacques-Yves Cousteau's findings in the island, in 1974, are of great archaeological interest. The island was inhabited by the Minoans and played a critical role in navigation and sailing during the Minoan times. It is well known that the Minoans were the most skilled sailors of the ancient world and the Minoan civilization is considered to be one of the most advanced ones ever existed on Earth. During this cruise, you can engage yourselves in a variety of activities. Try diving with your mask in the crystal-clear water, as its bottom is of great ecological and archeological interest because of the large variety of undersea discoveries. My family and I had a brilliant time with Ioannis and Vasilis on Blu Stella for a day trip to Dia Island today. They were really friendly, welcoming and spoke very good English. Ioannis allowed my son and I to take the helm for some of the trip to and from Dia which was excellent fun! Once at Dia, they found a really quiet bay, away from most other boats, where we snorkelled and had fun on the SUP board. Vasilis served lunch of grilled chicken souvlakis, rice, fresh bread and Greek salad, all of which he had prepared and made on the boat. It was absolutely delicious! They then took us to another bay with crystal clear blue water for another swim followed by a selection of fresh fruit, beautifully presented by Vasilis. More great fun was had sailing back to Heraklion, at the end of which the whole family was tired but really happy. Thanks so much guys for a great day!!

Η θάλασσα αποτελεί μέρος της ζωής μου από την παιδική μου ηλικία - η Κρήτη έχει μακρά παράδοση στη ναυσιπλοΐα εδώ και χιλιάδες χρόνια, από την εποχή των Μινωιτών. Aρκετοί κάτοικοι του νησιού ασχολούνται με αυτήν μέχρι και σήμερα. Ως ιδιοκτήτης δύο σκαφών, έχω πραγματοποιήσει αμέτρητα ταξίδια όλα αυτά τα χρόνια, καθένα από τα οποία αποτελεί πάντα μια ξεχωριστή εμπειρία για εμένα. (EN) I am involved in sailing for 25 years, 10 of them as a professional. I am actively operating within the vicinity of the city of Heraklion, in the island of Crete, but also in the beautiful Aegean Sea, based on the Heraklion Port (Marina). The sea has played an influential role in my life since my childhood - Crete has a long tradition in sailing for thousands of years, from the Minoan times. Many inhabitants of the island are involved in it to this day. As the owner of two sailboats, I have made countless voyages over all those years and each of them is always a unique experience for me.
