Exploring Marina del Rey with a sailboat…

Marina del Rey is the perfect starting point for any boating trip on the Southern Californian coast. Here are some of our favorite recommendations for day trips and weekend trips when you charter a yacht or sailboat in Marina del Rey:

For those interested in setting sail for a longer period of time with your Marina del Rey boat rental, consider heading towards Santa Catalina Island. The towns of Avalon and Two Harbors are waiting for you! Spend your days snorkeling the bays, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying all that the island has to offer on land.

In the Marina del Rey area, you can visit Marina Beach, perfect for swimming. Or sail along the Los Angeles County coast.

The SoCal coast is dotted with beautiful seaside towns, make sure you visit: Newport Beach (Crescent Bay, Emerald Bay, and Corona del Mar), Venice Beach, Long Beach (Belmont Shores and Alamitos Beach), and San Diego (La Jolla Cove and Coronado Island)!

If you are interested in whale watching, San Pedro is the best spot- especially from December to March.

When is the best time to boat in Marina del Rey?

Guests can set sail in Marina del Rey all year round. Southern California’s sunshine and mild temperatures make sailing possible even during the winter! However, we believe that the best time to go out on the boat is from late spring to late fall. During this period, it will most likely be warm enough for you to jump in and enjoy the water!

If you are interested in a yacht charter in Marina del Rey we highly recommend that you make a reservation in advance with Click&Boat to ensure that you can set sail onboard the perfect boat.

Are sailboat charters available with a skipper?

Yes! With Click&Boat, most sailboat hires in the Los Angeles area are available with an experienced captain and crew. All you have to do is sit back and relax while the skipper and crew take care of everything from navigating, docking, and more! This is also a great option for those who are planning parties or celebrations on board!

Our captains are local experts who know the area best! Allow them to show you their favorite places: from lovely seaside towns to sandy beaches, coves, and islands. They might even have recommendations on the area’s best restaurants and bars if you are interested in docking’n’dining.

For those interested in bareboat charters and who have the proper sailing qualifications, contact our owners on Click&Boat for more information and availabilities.

Why charter a sailboat for your next sailing adventure?

Sailboat charters are ideal for anyone interested in learning to sail, wanting a unique day on the water, or for those who plan to sail for a longer period of time and require cabins.

Depending on the model and length of the sailboat, they can typically accommodate 4 to 6 guests comfortably. This is a great option for small families and couples.

Imagine yourself cruising along the Southern California coast, stopping to relax at a beach, and most importantly- creating unforgettable memories with your loved ones. Sailing charters are definitely a bucket-list-worthy adventure!

Marina Del Rey is beautiful and welcoming to all levels and types of boaters. If the open water is a bit rough on the day you have booked you will still have an incredible experience going around the large harbor. There is plenty to do when you step off the boat with most amenities in walking distance. Great for a long weekend getaway!
