Dear guests, More than 60 years ago, Ernest Hemingway said: "The last great freedom is the sea"... and bought himself a boat. They can rent mine. Come with us and experience this wonderful feeling of freedom, adventure and relaxation... balm for the soul! The Gib Sea 51 is a beautiful, spacious ship, steered by the skipper couple Jürgen and Elke. We accompany you on your journey and show you the magical beauty of Corsica. The area around Corsica has many destinations that are both scenically and culturally interesting. The trip planning is therefore created by the skipper according to your interests and the current weather conditions. After numerous sea voyages (over 30,000 nautical miles) I have a lot of sailing know-how in stock, which I would be happy to pass on to you. To the boat: My 5-cabin yacht (each cabin with its own bathroom) is ideal for sailing trips with the whole family and groups of up to 9 people (up to 12 people on day trips). In the two aft cabins there are large double beds (2.25m long), in the port forecabin there are 3 beds (1 double bed and a single bed each 2m long, but with an extra wide sleeping area), in the starboard forecabin there is a double bed (2m long). This makes a total of 9 guest beds. The bow cabin contains a small double bed for skipper and hostess. OUR SHIP IS A NON-SMOKING BOAT (i.e. only for non-smokers!...), is always maintained by us and is therefore in good condition. So a booking request for smokers makes no sense. Now the best for last (especially for romantics...): The inside of the yacht impresses with its high-quality fine wood furnishings with African Afrormosia. This rather light, fine-grained wood creates a cozy ambience, even in the evening in combination with the candlelight-like warm light LEDs. The rounded doors and windows also give the ship a traditional, romantic feel. Since there is a window in almost every cozy corner (29 in total...), in the evening, before you fall asleep, you can look directly from bed at the starry sky or at the sea, how the moon is reflected in it... Jurgen met us promptly at the pickup point and with a warm greeting, brought us all to the the boat in a dinghy. He made my children feel very comfortable with kind humour. We did have a lovely time, and the boat was spotless and spacious. He and Elke welcomed us with friendliness, some entertaining stories, and gave us tips on sailing. We only had 1 anchorage, based on where the light winds would take us, spending a couple of hours swimming and lunching on the boat (self-catered picnic) at Plage Portigliolo from our departure point of Golfe d'Ajaccio. Unfortunately, we had no winds for the return journey, and had to motor back. Top tip: Bring cash for the fuel charges. We had planned to pay by card or bank transfer, but ended up walking along the harbour to find a cash point at the end of our long day at sea. And then we walked back to our car with luggage in tow, so it was not the ideal way to end a nice day out. Nonetheless, we had a great time. Jurgen is an expert skipper, and the team were lovely people.
