About the experience
The first location we will visit is the ferry port of town Vis and its charming streets portraying
the local Greek market. You may recognize this port from many scenes that were filmed
there, especially the one where Donna misses her ferry. Town Vis will be particularly
interesting to those who appreciate architecture, as it has several Renaissance structures as
well as Roman and Greek remains.
A short walk down the Vis port promenade will lead you to the Prirovo peninsula. There you
can find the fascinating church of Saint Jerome, constructed on the foundations of an old
Roman theatre. This building was the set of the romantic scene where the local fisherman
Alexio escapes with the woman of his dreams.
The next stop is Srebrna (Silver) Bay, a gorgeous pebbly beach surrounded by pine trees in
the southern part of the island. It got its name after the silver reflection of the stones in the
moonlight. There was no better place for young Donna and Sam to have a romantic night
stroll! Check swimming and snorkeling in the crystal sea off your list at this stunning bay!
Another beach that you can't skip is the famous Stiniva beach, hidden inside an interesting
cave like rock formation. You can catch a glimpse of it in the background during Donna and
Sam's first boat ride. Because of its shape, you must either swim or take a tiny rubber boat
to the coast to enter this bay. It also features a small beach bar where you can buy
Refreshments.
For a great restaurant selection, we suggest visiting the small fisherman's town of Komiža.
There you can eat at "Jasožera" restaurant that was transformed into a Greek taverna for
filming purposes. In the movie, Bill and Henry were eating at a table overlooking a
picturesque beach with wooden boats. Talk about dining with a view! Don't forget to explore
the town's streets after your delicious meal.
The final stop Barjoška Bay was the backdrop for many movie segments. So much they even
built new paths and roads that served the production. If you go a little farther north, you'll
find yourself at the Barjaci area, where 300 people performed the legendary hit song
"Dancing Queen."
