About the experience

Experience the golden magic of Venice from the water during this unforgettable 2-hour sunset cruise. Departing from the quiet Zattere promenade, this short but stunning journey takes you along the city’s most iconic and atmospheric waterways, just as the fading sun begins to paint the skyline in warm, glowing hues. As the light dances on the lagoon, you'll glide past historic islands and elegant facades while the city slows to a romantic hush.

The route winds gently through the wide Giudecca Canal, offering spectacular views of Giudecca Island and the southern edge of the Dorsoduro district. This peaceful stretch of the city comes alive with a quiet kind of beauty in the evening, its domes and bell towers silhouetted against the sky.

Next, we sail toward the Cannaregio district, one of Venice’s most authentic and lesser-known areas, with a rich blend of culture, quiet canals, and a strong local spirit. As we pass along its edges, you'll catch glimpses of daily Venetian life away from the tourist trail.

We then enter the historic heart of Venice’s naval past: the Arsenale, in the Castello district. Once the most powerful shipyard in Europe, it now stands like a sleeping giant—majestic and mysterious, especially in the soft light of dusk.

The journey concludes near the Giardini Biennale and into the St. Mark’s Basin, where you'll enjoy a breathtaking panorama of Venice’s most iconic skyline—domes, towers, and palaces bathed in the golden light of the setting sun.

As the years go by, I have been more and more wary of spending without prior knowledge or guarantees. I was nervous about this purchase - but all fears were allayed. Everything promised was delivered. Francesco was constantly in touch and we met near San Marco exactly on time. He was an excellent guide - he was available for questions, offered freely explanations about the areas we were boating in, made a detour for us to an island to check on a purchase, helped us take a finale photo by positioning the boat -- and he even took us into the Grand Canal (breaking a rule slightly) so we could enjoy that major thoroughfare. He is not an older "salty" captain, but instead an urbane, traveled polyglot. He has a Master's degree, lived abroad, is an entrepreneur, and a watch aficionado. We stayed on the boat past our official end time, and he helped the following day arrange for a special taxi to come get us at our hotel. This boat trip was 120% of what I had wanted it to be. I can say that having taken a day boat really makes me feel like I've "been" to Venice. This boat makes me think of movie stars and Lake Como. This captain made it the perfect day.

We had an amazing trip. We highly recommand Francesco's take on Venice. His knowdelege of the city and his kindness made this journey very special. The boat is beautiful and confortable, it was a birthday present for my girlfriend and this is by far the best experience we had in La Serenissa.
