We recently chartered the yacht Mickey G. While she is a beautiful vessel and we appreciated many aspects, our overall experience fell far short of expectations. The biggest disappointment was the lack of actual sailing — the sails were only raised once during the entire five-day trip. We had booked a sailing yacht specifically for the sailing experience, but most of our passages were under motor, increasing fuel costs and diminishing the trip’s appeal. No alternative routes were discussed to take advantage of the prevailing favorable wind, and the itinerary provided before booking was changed without explanation. Communication from the captain was minimal and not proactive. We were never invited to discuss the itinerary in advance or daily, which led to missed opportunities — for example, we didn’t know about a beach in Aegina that would have suited a non-swimmer in our group, or how charming Hydra was until after we left, having spent hours idling at anchor instead. There were also two unexpected 5am departures, and although we requested snorkeling stops, none were suggested. We were surprised there was no safety briefing at all. I had to point out the location of life jackets to the rest of the group, and two guests stepped on broken glass in the cabin. Sleeping below deck was uncomfortable due to heat, and running the air-conditioning was not an option as the generator was loud and filled cabins with diesel fumes. Some guests slept on deck as a result. We asked to secure moorings with shore power, but this was not arranged. One mooring with electricity was declined for “safety” reasons, leaving us without relief. While meals were generally good, service was minimal. Snacks were only served twice during the trip, drinks were usually self-serve, coffee ran out after the first morning, milk was never purchased despite promises, and we even had to buy our own case of water in Hydra. On the final day — despite a delayed departure from Serifos and disembarking at midday — there was no breakfast, coffee, or tea provided. Given the very high APA paid, the provisions and underwhelming service felt well below what we expected. This, combined with poor communication, inflexibility, and lack of attentiveness, made the charter disappointing and not good value for money. For the premium price paid, we expected professionalism, flexibility, and attention to detail — instead, we left feeling disappointed. We reached out to the owner to share our concerns, but he did not respond.

The Beneteau Oceanis 51.1 'Mickey' boat was very nice and luxurious. We had a day charter as a long saved for and very important wedding gift from us to our parents and families, and it was a great boat to celebrate on. Hydra > Dokos > Spetses and back to Hydra port. Multiple stops for swimming, a lunch on Spetses, and a full fun day. Great hosts, thank you. Whilst we had Greek and English families on board the captain had a high level of english if required. The boat was great. I would recommend this boat / experience, and I will probably be in touch next near for a longer voyage request.

Markos and his team were amazing hosts. We sailed for 5 days and we had the most relaxed and wonderful vacation. Mickey G was fully equipped with all amenities that you could ask for for a yacht that size. I would book again in a heart beat! Thank you Markos!

The owner and its crew care so much about their boat that forget about the renter’s experience. There were many places we couldn’t go out of “concern for the boat” the excessive care made this trip bittersweet. Wouldn’t recommend this company or boat to anyone.

The boat is exactly as it appears in the pictures, modern and very clean. Bath towel sets were available as well as beach towels. The Captain was very good, responsible and careful, we felt very safe with him. The skipper we requested was very nice. We were surprised that food items were already purchased by the company, it was not communicated with us and we had purchased food as well so there was too much food. In the boat description upon booking it states that there is a Dingy, SUP, snorkeling gear, seadoo sea scooter, floating mats, fishing rods and beach games. Only the first 3 items are in fact on board, when we pointed that out to the captain he purchased fishing string and 2 inflatable beds from the next island, but we were actually charged for it in our bill when we were settling our payments! It was nominal but still should not have been on us since the description did say those items were available. The fuel consumption was calculated as follows: Number of hours with engine sailing x 14 Euros/hour x price of 1 liter fuel (in our case since we had little wind it was 22 hours x 14 x 2 = 600 Euros approx for 4 days of sailing) The representative of the company of the boat that we were dealing with could have communicated things a bit better with us in general.
