About the experience

For a longer and more immersive experience, we suggest heading upstream, away from the city, where the Douro becomes calmer and more natural.

Along this route, you’ll enjoy greener landscapes, quieter surroundings, and views of small riverside villages — a completely different perspective from the vibrant atmosphere of Porto and Gaia. We can also anchor near a river beach, where the waters are warmer and calmer, allowing time to swim, relax on board, and enjoy the sun.

Instead of anchoring, we can dock at a traditional riverside restaurant for lunch during the tour, allowing you to enjoy a local dining experience before continuing the journey (lunch cost not included). Option limited to the restaurant availability.

If preferred, we can continue navigating towards the Crestuma-Lever lock, offering a deeper connection with the Douro’s natural beauty.

Depending on your preference, this experience can also include the full 2-hour route towards Ribeira, Gaia, the bridges, and the river mouth (Foz), combining both the city highlights and the natural upstream scenery in one complete tour.

We had the bestest time going on this 2 hour cruise! It was the perfect celebration for our 9 year anniversary! The crew were great, very accommodating! They definitely went above and beyond to make this work for us. Loved how they told us some facts about the bridges but also gave us time to chat with ourselves and not feel overwhelmed by staff. They were very patient with our 21 month old which was greatly appreciated. There was tons of room for my husband and I, and our 2 babies and our 2 strollers and 2 backpacks.
