Located in Italy, Genova (or Genoa), is the capital of the northwest Italy’s region: Liguria. The city has been known across many centuries for its maritime trade. It is impressive to think that the harbour was once filled with boats from the Roman Empire. Inside Genoa, you will find narrow streets, the black and white Cathedral of San Lorenzo, squares such as the Piazza de Ferrari, the opera house of Carlo Felice, and much more. The Liguria coast has picturesque landscapes that are best explored by yacht.

With a warm welcome and always a smile, Captain Oliviero and his lovely hostess Daniela made this a truly unforgettable experience. I'm not sure where to start, but from the very first moment I was welcomed to the boat, I was given a tour of the boat and my cabin. The cabin can easily be compared to a hotel, very luxury and so comfortable! We embarked from Genoa along the Ligurian coast, passing and stopping at many ports, such as Camogli, Portofino, Sestri Levante (where we spent the night) and down to Portovenere. Both Daniela and Oliviero made me feel very welcome, and they made sure I had nothing to need, from the morning I was given a feast for breakfast, being served a full English breakfast, with pancakes, to lunch where we had a menu to select from. I highly recommend the Lasagna, truly the best I have EVER had!!! Fantastico!!!! I also enjoyed the fine selection of beverages, ranging from beers, limoncello to wine and even having prosecco served with every meal! I cannot express my gratitude to both Oliviero and Daniela, as they both worked hard to make this a first class experience! I can assure you that I will be returning very soon and will be looking at setting a new course and new adventures with my new friends. Thank you once again for making this a truly memorable experience that I will cherish for a very long time! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
We didn't see much of Genoa because we were there the week of the terrible bridge collapse. It is a better place to embark on a boat trip on the Italian Riviera than Santa Margherita or Rapallo because there is free parking. We also rented a motor boat on Lake Como and that was our favorite day of the trip. Sestri Levanti is great, but it wasn't the best for food (although we had a great lunch at a bar on Bay di Silenze). We had one of the best meals of our trip in Portonevere, although it was also the most expensive of the trip. The two other best meals were near Cadenabbia (Lake Como) and in Santa Margherita.
Genova can only be hated or loved. Beeing a harbor city since medieval times it's rough and beautiful. Do some shopping before embarking, as around the harbor everything will be closed on Sundays. Portofino is absolutely worth a visit, but also San Frutosio and other small villages. Just trust Alberto - and the wind!
