I advise to rent a car or a boat in order to visit around olbia. Don't stay in olbia. There aren't many things to do and it's quite quiet ! It's more a family destination with nice restaurants. The places to go out are minimum 25-30min driving from Olbia and taxis are expensive (100€ for 30min driving)

Rent a motorboat in Sardinia - Under the Italian sun

Italy has several islands in the Mediterranean, one of which is popular with tourists, Sardinia. Sardinia itself consists of the main island and a few smaller islands off the island. The capital is Cagliari and definitely worth a visit. In Cagliari there are some buildings worth seeing, such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria or the Basilica. There are nice cafes and restaurants everywhere for a good coffee or Italian wine. Summers here can reach up to 30°C, which makes it tempting to rent a motorboat in Sardinia and go out to sea.

Explore the best beaches in Sardinia by motorboat

Sardinia offers stunning coastal scenery with a variety of beaches ideal for exploring by motorboat. Whether you want to anchor in small coves or visit remote beaches, the island offers numerous options. Here are some of the best beaches that you can reach by boat Hire in Sardinia:

  • Cala Goloritzé beach in the Gulf of Orosei is famous for its cliffs and crystal clear waters. It can only be reached by boat or a longer hike, making it an exclusive destination.
  • Cala Luna, also located in the Gulf of Orosei, this beach offers an impressive backdrop of limestone cliffs and caves. A perfect place for snorkeling and diving.
  • La Pelosa is near Stintino in the northwest of the island, this beach is famous for its fine white sand and turquoise sea. However, keep in mind that this beach is very popular in summer.
  • Tuerredda, located in the south of Sardinia, this beach offers wonderful, clear water and is surrounded by untouched nature. It's a great place for swimming and snorkeling.
  • Spiaggia di Piscinas is famous for its sand dunes, which are among the highest in Europe. The water is clear and the surroundings are almost untouched.
  • Cala Cipolla beach is particularly popular with surfers and windsurfers, but the clear waters and natural surroundings also make it a great destination for boaters.
  • Cala Brandinchi, often referred to as “Little Tahiti”, this beach offers fine white sand and crystal clear water. It is an ideal place for families and for snorkeling.
  • Spiaggia del Principe is close to Porto Cervo and is known for its clear, turquoise water. A great place to relax and sunbathe.

What are the costs for chartering a motor yacht in Sardinia

The costs for renting a motor boat in Sardinia vary depending on various factors such as type of boat, rental period , season and provider. For example, a small boat for short trips near the coast that can accommodate 4 to 6 people could cost between 200 and 400 euros per day. If you prefer a medium-sized boat with more amenities and space for up to 10 people, expect prices between 500 and 800 euros per day.

For luxury yachts and larger boats, which often come with additional services such as a skipper or catering, the costs can be significantly higher and exceed 1,000 euros per day. If you want to add a skipper, there is usually an additional cost of between 150 and 200 euros per day.

It is also important to note that fuel costs are often not included in the rental price and are calculated based on consumption. In addition, a deposit is usually required and additional insurance may also be chargeable.

Price fluctuations depending on the season are also common. During the high season, which usually runs from June to September, prices can rise significantly. Some operators also offer half-day or hourly rates, which could be a more cost-effective option for shorter trips.

What is the best season to charter a motor yacht in Sardinia?

The best season for chartering a motor yacht in Sardinia depends on various factors such as the weather, crowds and your personal preferences. Here's an overview:

High season (June to September):

These months offer the warmest weather and the calmest sea, ideal for boating. However, you should note that yacht charter prices are at their highest during this time. In addition, the most popular beaches and harbors can be very crowded.

Mid Season (May and October):

These months still offer good weather but fewer crowds. However, the water can be a little cooler, especially in October. Prices are generally more moderate than in high season.

Low season (November to April):

If you prefer peace and quiet and have experience navigating in less than ideal conditions, the winter months could be an option. However, please note that many services such as restaurants or marinas may be closed and the weather may be unpredictable.
