What can you see and do on a boat rental in Phuket?

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and it is full of things to see and do. It can be hard to know which activities to prioritise on your sailing adventure, but here are some of our favourite things to add to your Phuket itinerary.

  • Make friends with the elephants at the Green Elephant Sanctuary Park where you can care for these gentle giants, and even go swimming with them!
  • Stroll around the Old Town and see the colonial influences leftover from the Chinese and Portuguese in the charming Soi Romannaee, which includes rows of bright buildings.
  • Experience the bustling nightlife at Bangla Road.
  • Sail to James Bond Island and see the jaw-dropping limestone cliffs surrounding quaint coves for snorkelling.
  • See the majestic Ban Pang Pae Waterfall at Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, and get a dose of nature in the dense jungle. If you visit during the wet season you’ll be able to swim in the rock pools.
  • Climb up the hill in Karon to see the Big Buddha, one of the most important monuments in Phuket.
  • Take in the awe-inspiring sunset from the viewpoint of the Promthep Cape.
  • Dine at some floating restaurants that are only accessible by boat. Eat local seafood like oysters, prawns and fish.
  • Meet some adorable monkeys at Monkey Beach, or hike up to Toh Sae Hill to see them in a less crowded atmosphere. Don’t come empty-handed though, they will probably be hungry and expecting a treat!
  • Sunbathe and swim at some of the best beaches in Phuket like Bangtao Beach, Freedom Beach, Kata Beach and Laem Singh Beach.
  • Go deep diving at the submerged reefs in the Andaman Ocean or stay closer to the surface and snorkel at Nai Harn Beach.

What is the best time to rent a boat in Phuket?

The best time for a boat rental in Phuket is from December to April when precipitation levels are at their lowest. It is hot year-round in Phuket due to its monsoon climate and it has an average temperature of 30°C, but there there is less rainfall in the winter months. However, keep in mind that this is the high season in the region when prices tend to be at their most expensive. For lower prices and fewer crowds, we recommend a yacht charter in Phuket at the tail ends of high season, in November or May. Temperatures will still be hot but there is slightly more rain.

Skippered yacht charter in Phuket for smooth sailing!

If you want to make the most of your trip and not have to worry about steering, then chartering a yacht with a skipper, or even an entire crew, is your best choice at Click&Boat! Of course skippered vessels tend to be a bit more expensive, but it is worth it! Our experienced skippers are masters of their craft and will tailor the itinerary to your specific requests! They will show you the little-known places, the wildest beaches and the most beautiful bays. In fact, they may even teach you tricks and techniques and let you take the helm!

If you are a proud owner of a sailing license/qualifications and want to explore new horizons then go for it! At Click&Boat you will find many boats, from speedboats to sailboats and catamarans, that you can rent without a skipper.

What type of boat is best for a Phuket yacht charter?

If you’re wondering which type of boat to choose for your yacht charter in Phuket don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. For a shorter trip of less than a week, we always recommend a daily charter such as a motorboat or a RIB, to cover long distances in no time. If you’re planning a longer sailing holiday you’ll need a vessel with more amenities and comforts on board such as a catamaran or a yacht which include cabins for sleeping, a kitchen and dining area and of course, a place to sunbathe! Avid sailors might prefer a sailboat for a more authentic sailing experience to feel the sway of the waves, though they aren’t recommended for novice sailors or people who get seasick easily! No matter your vision for your holiday in Phuket, Click&Boat has got a large and diverse fleet to ensure that you find the exact vessel you need.

Phuket is a very easy to reach location to start a nice trip. Many flights available and a short drive to the harbour. Prior to departure we determined the route together based on our preferences, which always very nice. We went to sail to smaller islands in the area which was lovely!
