Today, it welcomes all visitors, maintaining its tranquil ambiance and shallow waters, making it ideal for families and swimmers of all ages.
French Cove: A Hidden Gem
French Cove, known locally as Fransız Koyu, is a secluded bay that has captivated visitors with its crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings. The cove's name reflects its popularity among French visitors who have long appreciated its serene environment. Accessible only by boat, it offers an exclusive escape from the bustling tourist spots, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the untouched beauty of the Aegean coastline.
Guvercinada Castle (Pigeon Island): A Fortress of History
Guvercinada Castle, perched on Pigeon Island, boasts a rich history dating back to the Byzantine era. The castle walls were built by İlyas Agha, while the citadel's construction was commissioned by the Ottoman admiral Hayreddin Barbarossa in the mid-16th century. Renovations in the 19th century strengthened its walls. The castle also served as a "Pirate Police Station" to combat piracy in the area during the Ottoman period.     This should have been a terrific experience but was marred by the constant attempts to scam tourists visiting to this country. First, we were told that it would be 70-100 euros if we wanted them to arrange a private transfer for us from the cruise port. Once we arrived, we found out that the going rate would be less than 14 euros round trip. We were told ahead of the trip that it would be 25 euros for a multi course lunch on board per person. Once we were on board, we were advised that it would be actually be 40-50 euros per person for Turkish street food that costs around $5-8 euros per dish. The boat we were given was not even close to the one shown in the pictures. It was much older, did not have an area in the back to lay out and everything was very dirty especially the front pad. We were twenty minutes late leaving because they did not have the coolers prepared with water or soft drinks. The captain was absolutely fabulous and did his best to show us a wonderful day. I’d give this very few stars without him. The stops were ok - the water and things to see at this location were the least attractive of our trip through Turkey and Greece and this boat was one of the more expensive. We have rented boats throughout the entire world and this was the most appalled we’ve ever been at how strong the approach is to getting the most money out of tourists that you can vs showing them a fairly priced and wonderful time in your country.

    The communication on booking from Hira&Mina yachting was great and the boat was exactly as expected. Mehmet the skipper was very accommodating to all our requests and was an excellent host. Our three kids had the ‘best day ever’ snorkelling, diving and jet skiing, it is the highlight of our holiday.
