Boat Rental in the Mediterranean with Click&Boat

With Europe to the north and Africa to the south, the Mediterranean Sea, often referred to as the 'Med', is a haven for sailing vacations and boat rentals. Although connected to the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean is almost entirely surrounded by land creating an abundance of beautiful coastal towns located in some of the most beautiful countries on the planet.

These include France , Spain , Italy , Croatia , Greece  and Monaco just to name a few. Just as popular are some of the islands, such as the Balearic Islands, that the Med is home to including Ibiza , Menorca , Mallorca, Santorini and Corfu . The Mediterranean is a key global location for yachts and sailing and is home to major international boat shows such as Cannes Yachting Festival and the Mediterranean Yacht Show.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in the Mediterranean?

The price of a Mediterranean boat rental may vary greatly depending on the type, size and age of the boat, as well as the destination and duration of the charter. Prices may also vary depending on the time of year you choose to rent a boat in the Mediterranean. Demand and prices are often higher in the summer (high-season).

  • Rent a boat in the Mediterranean for as little as $100/day.
  • For luxury yacht charters in the Mediterranean, prices start at $5,500/day.
  • If you are interested in renting for a long period of time, as well as sleeping on board, then expect to pay around $850/week in low season or $2,200/week in the high season.

Since you are interested in renting a boat in the Mediterranean, how about refining your search to a specific country?

Boating in the Mediterranean

Click&Boat has thousands of boats and yachts available for rent in the Mediterranean including catamarans and motorboats as well as luxury yachts and sailboats.

The Mediterranean is particularly popular for sailing vacations because of the proximity between beautiful, sun-kissed locations. You can go island hopping around Greece and Italy or stay in one location for a week and spend your days visiting secluded beaches and coves.

Where to begin your sailing vacation?

The Mediterranean Sea covers 2.5 million km² and as such there are countless harbors to choose to begin your sailing vacation from. Some specific harbors are worth mentioning to send you in the right direction for deciding your starting point.

  • Porto Cervo on the Italian Island of Sardinia is a popular spot because of its destination and capacity. It can fit up to 700 boats including larger boats and is incredibly close to the famous beaches of Costa Smeralda.
  • Port de Saint-Tropez in Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera in France is another very popular location. Also accommodating over 700 boats, it is one of the larger harbors and you can expect to see super yachts here too.
  • Other notable harbors in the Mediterranean worth mentioning are ACI Marina Split, Ibiza Magna Lefkas Marina and Limassaol Marina.

What is there to see when you charter a yacht in the mediterranean?

The type of boat you rent will almost entirely depend on the type of holiday you want to have ,which will also affect what you will want to see in the Mediterranean.

  • You might hire a catamaran to have a relaxed family holiday, a sailboat to try something adventurous by sailing between islands or you could charter a private yacht and spend your time swimming in secluded coves whilst living that luxurious life on-board your boat.
  • If you are looking for spots of natural beauty then look no further than the Amalfi Coast of Italy. UNESCO named the Amalfi Coast an outstanding example of a mediterranean landscape.
  • If you are looking for something more lively and fancy visiting some of the world's most famous bars and clubs then I am sure you don't need to be told twice to make a stop in Ibiza - famous for its lively nightlife and nightclubs.
  • The Mediterranean is also full of ancient history with places like St. Tropez, the Italian Riviera and the Dalmatian Coast just being a few examples of locations worth stopping during charter vacations.

When is the best time to visit the Mediterranean?

The high-season in the Mediterranean typically runs from May to the end of August with July and August being by far the most popular and busy times of the year.

With this in mind, it is often a good idea to avoid July and August and instead plan your trip for either side of the high-season. May and June or September and October are the best times to visit the Mediterranean because the weather is still sunny, the waters are warm and the crowds are fewer.

For sailing specifically, Spring is the best as the waters are calmer but the sun is still shining making for perfect Mediterranean sailing. If we were to suggest one time of the year to take you sailing vacation it would be during May and June.

What is included in a boat rental with Click&Boat?

Boat rentals in the Mediterranean vary considerably in boat type, length of time and price of the charter.

That way your captain will take care of everything from navigating, anchoring, and docking while you enjoy your time on board (and in the water!) with your family and friends.
