What can you see and do with a boat hire in Como?

Como is a dreamy destination with a perfect combination of natural beauty, history, culture and delicious cuisine. With so much to see and do, you will fall in love with this charming Italian town. Here are some recommendations for doing things while on a Lake Como boat charter:

  • Sunbathe at the small pebble beach in Lido di Cernobbio, a public park on the western shore of the lake or head to Villa Olmo on the eastern shore and enjoy the green gardens straddling the water's edge.
  • When you hire a boat in Como, sail to the secluded beach in the small village of Moltrasio. Here, you'll find a tiny stretch of sand nestled between two cliffs, accessible only by boat. This hidden gem offers crystal-clear waters and stunning views, making it an excellent spot for a peaceful swim.
  • Practise water sports on the lake! You'll be surrounded by other sports enthusiasts who are windsurfing, kitesurfing, water skiing and stand-up paddleboarding. You can also kayak to explore the lake further!
  • Take a day trip and explore other stunning destinations in the Lake Como region. Sail to the stunning Varenna, a picturesque fishing village on Lake Como's eastern shore. With its colourful houses, cobbled streets and stunning waterfront, Varenna is a great place to spend a day relaxing and taking in the beauty of the lake.
  • You can also visit the "pearl of Lake Como" with a day trip to Bellagio, a beautiful village at the intersection of the lake's three branches. Here you can experience the vibrant waterfront and charming old town decorated with extravagant villas.
  • Sail to Isola Comacina, the only island in Lake Como, and enjoy panoramic views of the lake and surrounding areas. Learn about the fascinating Roman history of the island and explore the mediaeval architectural and archaeological remains.
  • Visit the gothic Como Cathedral and admire its intricate details and stunning views from the bell tower.
  • Go swimming and snorkelling in the refreshing blue waters and discover the underwater world.

What is the best time of year to rent a boat in Como?

The best time to rent a yacht in Como is during the summer months between June and September when the weather is warm and sunny and the water is calm. You can expect average high temperatures of 27°C, perfect for spending time on the lake.

However, it's worth noting that summer is also the busiest time of year as tourists flock to Como. If you prefer a quieter, more budget-friendly experience, consider visiting in the shoulder season, in April, May, and October. This is one of the best times to visit with cooler but pleasant weather and fewer crowds. The best part? You'll get better deals on Lake Como boat rentals!

Get a skippered yacht hire in Como for smooth sailing!

If you're looking for a sailing holiday with an all-inclusive atmosphere and unparalleled security, opt for a skippered boat rental in Como. Indeed, skippered vessels are usually more expensive than bareboat charters, but the extra cost is well worth it for added peace of mind on the water. Skippers are nautical professionals that will dock, anchor and navigate the vessel for you so that you don't have to worry about anything but having the time of your life.

But perhaps the best part of having a skipper on board is the fact that they are locals of the area who can give you recommendations about where to go and what to see, and even show you some hidden spots that only locals would know about! So for a more personalised boating experience, we highly recommend sailing in the safe hands of a skipper.

What type of vessel should I choose for my yacht rental in Como?

When choosing a vessel for your Como yacht hire, it's essential to consider how much time you'll spend on board. If you only want to cruise around Como for a few days, we'd recommend a half or full day rental on a RIB or a motorboat. These vessels are fast and help you see everything on your travel itinerary in no time!

On the other hand, we'd recommend a weekly charter, such as a sailboat, for a more extended trip. These vessels are best for an authentic and traditional sailing experience, however. They can be tricky to navigate, so it's always best to choose one with a skipper. No matter what you're looking for, Click&Boat offers a variety of boats. There’s no doubt that you will find your ideal boat type for your dream Lake Como yacht charter. Happy sailing!

Lake Como is an absolutely stunning setting for a holiday, with so many lovely villages to visit, each with their own unique history, as well as hikes, swimming, boating, watersports, horseback riding, etc. The local cuisine is delicious with many restaurants offering the opportunity to boat in and dock while enjoying the restaurant. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be back!

We engaged the boat and skipper for a 50 kilometer solo marathon swim of Lake Como from Gera Lario to Como. The lake is incredibly beautiful, so many gorgeous chateaus and adorable little towns and amazing natural scenery. Weather in early September was perfect and the water was perfect for a swim!
