The glimmering Lake Como that surrounds the city of Como, dominates the landscape, surrounded by lush green hills and mountains in the distance. On land, you can wander the streets of the historic centre and see stunning Gothic architecture like the Como Cathedral and sample the delicious local cuisine.

But no trip to Como is complete without visiting the main attraction: the lake! With a boat rental in Como, you can experience the region’s jewel and discover the gorgeous towns and villages dotting the coast. Soak in the stunning views of the villas and mansions sitting on the shore, dip in the sparkling blue water and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.

What are you waiting for? Start planning the sailing holiday of a lifetime with a boat charter in Como with Click&Boat!

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Como?

The price of a boat charter in Como will vary depending on factors such as the location, number of passengers on board, time of year, and make and model of the boat. In addition, extra amenities and services such as a skipper and equipment can be included or added at an extra cost.

Below are the average prices for a Como boat rental by boat type:

Type of boatHigh season priceLow season price
Motorboat€400/day€200/day
RIB€1,200/day€1,200/day
Motor Yacht€3,200/day€2,940/day

What does it include?

Be aware that additional costs might arise, including fuel, skipper fees, food, and drinks. Some rentals offer extras like sports equipment. Confirm any extra fees or included items before booking.

Renting a boat with a skipper usually costs around 100 per day. The boat will come equipped with all necessary safety and navigation gear. Reach out to the boat owner prior to booking to verify the rental details and what is included.

Rent a boat with or without a skipper

If you're looking for a sailing holiday with an all-inclusive atmosphere and unparalleled security, opt for a skippered boat rental in Como. Indeed, skippered vessels are usually more expensive than bareboat charters, but the extra cost is well worth it for added peace of mind on the water. Skippers are nautical professionals that will dock, anchor and navigate the vessel for you so that you don't have to worry about anything but having the time of your life.

But perhaps the best part of having a skipper on board is the fact that they are locals of the area who can give you recommendations about where to go and what to see, and even show you some hidden spots that only locals would know about!

For renting without a skipper boat licence, choose the type of boat, check licensing requirements, and pick your location. Research reputable rental companies, compare options, and make a reservation, providing necessary documents like a boating licence.

Popular spots include the picturesque town of Bellagio, known as the "Pearl of the Lake", where you can enjoy stunning views and charming streets. What can you see and do with in Como?

Como is a dreamy destination with a perfect combination of natural beauty, history, culture and delicious cuisine. With so much to see and do, you will fall in love with this charming Italian town. Here are some recommendations for doing things while on a Como boat charter:

Sunbathe at the small beach in Lido di Cernobbio, a public park on the western shore of the lake, or head to Villa Olmo on the eastern shore and enjoy the green gardens.
Sail to the secluded beach in the small village of Moltrasio. Here, you'll find a tiny stretch of sand nestled between two cliffs, accessible only by boat. This hidden gem offers clear waters and stunning views, making it an excellent spot for a peaceful swim.
Practise water sports on the lake! You'll be surrounded by other sports enthusiasts who are windsurfing, kitesurfing, water-skiing and stand-up paddleboarding.
Take a day trip and explore other stunning destinations in the Lake Como region. Sail to the stunning Varenna, a picturesque fishing village on Lake Como's eastern shore. What is the best time of year to rent a boat in Como?

The best time to rent a yacht in Como is during the summer months between June and September, when the weather is warm and sunny and the water is calm. You can expect average high temperatures of 27°C, perfect for spending time on the lake.

However, it's worth noting that summer is also the busiest time of year as tourists flock to Como. If you prefer a quieter, more budget-friendly experience, consider visiting in the shoulder season, in April, May, and October. This is one of the best times to visit, with cooler but pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

What type of vessel should I choose to rent a boat in Como?

When choosing a vessel for your Como yacht hire, it's essential to consider how much time you'll spend on board. If you only want to cruise around Como for a few days, we'd recommend a half or full day rental on a RIB or a motorboat. These vessels are fast and help you see everything on your travel itinerary in no time!

On the other hand, we'd recommend a weekly charter, such as a sailboat, for a more extended trip. These vessels are best for an authentic and traditional sailing experience, however. They can be tricky to navigate, so it's always best to choose one with a skipper. No matter what you're looking for, Click&Boat offers a variety of boats. There’s no doubt that you will find your ideal boat type for your dream Lake Como yacht charter. Happy sailing!

The water is very calm so it's easy to navigate easy as a newbie. I drove my car and even though it is very narrow, it was okay to navigate. People are respectful and the water is clean. The scenery is one of a kind and will definitely will come back for more days. We stayed for 3 days and we did our maximum effort to enjoy to the fullest. We loved Lago di Como!

Lake Como is an absolutely stunning setting for a holiday, with so many lovely villages to visit, each with their own unique history, as well as hikes, swimming, boating, watersports, horseback riding, etc. The local cuisine is delicious with many restaurants offering the opportunity to boat in and dock while enjoying the restaurant. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be back!

We engaged the boat and skipper for a 50 kilometer solo marathon swim of Lake Como from Gera Lario to Como. The lake is incredibly beautiful, so many gorgeous chateaus and adorable little towns and amazing natural scenery. Weather in early September was perfect and the water was perfect for a swim!

Truly one of the best days we have spent in Italy. From the patience shown while we worked out dates for booking, welcoming us onboard, the tour guiding and especially the cold Prosecco. You knocked it out of the park. Will be tough not to book again next year.

I highly recommend the service of Alessandro’s Around the Lake boat tour. He was very communicative with details flexible on where and when to meet, timely and informative on all the great sites and villas. Very professional and on time. The boat is a brand new 2024, very nice boat. It is a good value compared to other tours and services we priced. It is a great way to see the beautiful villas and scenery Lake Como has to offer.
