Guy is not a private owner but a company called Nicolas Marine. Nicolas is a friendly guy, but in my openion he should give more attention to safety. I have informed him that there was quite a lot broken and warn on this boat; including safety hazzards, but I’m affraid the next customer will have the same issues: - water leakage: quite a lot drinking water is lost. Continuesly switching of the hydrofor and switching on the bidge pump. - No gas detection - Not working navigation lights and mooring lights - Railing at one side fixed with tape at the other side it broke during our trip - 220V cable cut, fixed with tape but already came loose. - Plumbing drain didn’t work properly resulting in a stinky toilet. - Shower pump didn’t work so water in the toilet room could not be drained. - Lining on the seats is warn, full of salt and one part has quite big cuts. - Cooker does not stay on / easily doves. - The bracket of the spinnaker boom is loose. - Cover of the swimming platform is half loose. I informed Nicolas that some parts can happen because it’s an old boat, but safety issues should be taken care of; and better then with tape (as on the 220V cable and the railing). I hope he will give it some proper attention.
Nicolas, who maintains and manages the rental, is a very good contact, very clear and square and works in a very pleasant relationship of mutual trust, both on arrival and on return. A great week aboard this boat, which has its age but is well maintained. Small minor problems that are normal for the age of the boat, with always very good reactivity from Nicolas. The boat is really pleasant and performs well under sail (asymmetric spinnaker provided free of charge! which gave us a magical arrival under spinnaker in 10-15 knots of wind in Bonifacio). Just a somewhat old autopilot with an unreliable system, but we really enjoyed ourselves at the helm! I only remember good things about this rental and the rental company, which I recommend! Thank you Nicolas for our exchanges which allow us to improve these good times spent on board Maloya.
Maloya is a great boat, Nicolas who manages the rental is someone reliable. We spent a wonderful week of navigation at 6 despite several minor technical problems
week of 27/8 to 3/9/22 Thank you Nicolas for your precious advice, your sympathy, and above all for your responsiveness in responding to our concerns. We had an engine failure from the start and we were repaired the next day. The breakdown identified (bottom of the tank or adulterated diesel oil), the cleaning and the antibacterial product took effect and we were able to continue our trip without major worries. Despite not always favorable weather conditions, we had a good time sailing. It is a safe sailboat and very good quality anchorage. The GPS is new and the sails are correct. The two winch handles are worn and need to be replaced with new ones. A lifeline to change starboard for safety. The sailboat at its age, it needs to be improved over time. We will keep very good memories of this week.
