Do I need a nautical licence to charter a sailboat?

The need to present a nautical licence to sail a sailboat depends on the legislation of the place where you are going to sail, and also on the owner of the boat: some do not make their boats available for charter without a licence.

In France, for example, no licence is needed to sail a sailboat, while in Spain a permit is only required for those up to 6 metres in length and in specific areas. In contrast, in places like Brazil and Portugal it is not possible to drive a recreational sailboat without a licence. But this is not a cause for concern.
