About the experience

Step into the poetic beauty of Venice’s northern lagoon on a journey that blends art, color, and history in just a few unforgettable hours. This half-day cruise departs from Zattere, the tranquil promenade of the Dorsoduro district, and whisks you away from the bustle of central Venice toward islands steeped in tradition and charm. With fewer crowds and a slower rhythm, this tour offers a refreshing glimpse of authentic lagoon life.

As we sail past Giudecca and into the open waters, your first stop is Murano, the legendary glassmaking island. Here, you'll witness the centuries-old craft of glassblowing, passed down through generations of master artisans. You'll have time to admire their work, visit a furnace, and explore the quaint alleys lined with boutiques and studios.

Next, we glide toward the colorful island of Burano, a visual delight with its rainbow-painted homes reflected in peaceful canals. Known for its lace-making tradition and warm village spirit, Burano invites you to wander, take photos, and soak in its joyful atmosphere.

We’ll cruise past Mazzorbo, a quiet farming island connected to Burano by a wooden footbridge, before circling through the scenic northern stretches of the lagoon. On the return journey, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the lagoon’s ever-changing light and skyline, including a final glide toward Venice with the domes of San Marco rising in the distance.

This tour is perfect for those with limited time who still want to experience the lagoon’s cultural soul. It’s scenic, peaceful, and deeply Venetian.

As the years go by, I have been more and more wary of spending without prior knowledge or guarantees. I was nervous about this purchase - but all fears were allayed. Everything promised was delivered. Francesco was constantly in touch and we met near San Marco exactly on time. He was an excellent guide - he was available for questions, offered freely explanations about the areas we were boating in, made a detour for us to an island to check on a purchase, helped us take a finale photo by positioning the boat -- and he even took us into the Grand Canal (breaking a rule slightly) so we could enjoy that major thoroughfare. He is not an older "salty" captain, but instead an urbane, traveled polyglot. He has a Master's degree, lived abroad, is an entrepreneur, and a watch aficionado. We stayed on the boat past our official end time, and he helped the following day arrange for a special taxi to come get us at our hotel. This boat trip was 120% of what I had wanted it to be. I can say that having taken a day boat really makes me feel like I've "been" to Venice. This boat makes me think of movie stars and Lake Como. This captain made it the perfect day.

We had an amazing trip. We highly recommand Francesco's take on Venice. His knowdelege of the city and his kindness made this journey very special. The boat is beautiful and confortable, it was a birthday present for my girlfriend and this is by far the best experience we had in La Serenissa.
