What to do in Carloforte?
Carloforte is home to a marble statue of King Charles Emmanuel III of Savoy, built in 1786 by the first generation of "Tabarkini" to thank the founder of the city. Behind the monument, a very short road leads to Piazza Della Repubblica, a very typical square with four "ficus" (fig) trees providing shade.
Crossing the square, another short road leads to the parish church of San Carlo, one of the first buildings erected in Carloforte, immediately after the colonization of the island.
