We rode to the islands off the coast, along the coast of Cannes, Cap d’Antibes and a few beaches to swim!

We were glad to be where there were a lot of boats but not a lot of tourists. This was the place!

We had a great day out on the boat. We went to a beautiful swim spot and had a picnic. It was a bit wavey but the skipper was so competent and made us all feel very safe and welcome. 10/10 would recommend!

There was a slight technical issue with the original boat however the host was very helpful in quickly organising a replacement boat to use. As compensation we were offered previously paid add-ons to the booking completely for free and the host was very kind and apologetic about the situation. The boat itself was great although the sea was quite choppy and with the amount of space, I wouldn't have been comfortable with more than 3 adults on board. Incredibly friendly despite a language barrier and overall great value for money.

Why rent a barge in France?

With more than 8,500 km of rivers and canals, the French river network is the largest in Europe. Offering a breathtaking diversity of destinations, barge rental in France is an ideal solution for combining accommodation and means of transport. River tourism is booming and meets every need for escape, coordinating navigation, ecotourism, hiking and cycling.

By renting a barge in France, you will (re)discover slow tourism. On board a barge, river navigation is calm. In fact, you will sail at an average speed of 6 km/h and will be able to take the opportunity to fully reconnect with nature and French heritage while discovering locks and villages, each more charming than the last. Whether you decide to sail on the calm waters of the Canal du Midi, the Canal du Rhône, the Canals du Centre, the Canal de Bourgogne or on the Seine, on Click&Boat, there are more than 680 barges waiting for you in France. For a day, a weekend or a week, take advantage of a river cruise to discover gems sometimes located just a few kilometers from home!

How much does it cost to rent a barge in France?

On average, the price of a barge rental in France is around €228 per day for boats that can accommodate 5 people on board.

On Click&Boat, you can rent a barge in France from €103 per day.

These prices vary according to several criteria such as the request for a captain on board or not, the size, the capacity of the boat and the captain. Like any rental, fuel is not included in the price when booking.

Do you need a boat license to rent a barge in France?

No. In France, it is not compulsory to have a boat license to be able to rent a barge. In fact, barges less than 15m long and not exceeding 6hp are boats without a license. Accessible to everyone, you can therefore be the captain of the boat during your river cruise!

Have you never sailed a boat? Don't worry, on the day of your rental, the owner will explain everything you need to know so that you can be independent during your cruise.

Are you not sure whether you want to drive a barge yourself, but would like to opt for river tourism? Opt for barge rental in France with skipper. An experienced captain will accompany you on board and take you through the most picturesque and charming locks in the region.
