Overall rating
Cleanliness: could definitely be better – there were two dirty juice glasses in the sink at the beginning. When the owner pointed them out, there was no reaction. All the seat covers were also a bit dirty. Cleaning was the first thing we had to do after loading everything. During the first day, we found a sunscreen and an empty water bottle left by the previous occupants. We also found an open package of nuts, which were definitely not from the previous occupants and were quite old. The boat itself would be great! Amenities: There were plenty of glasses. The boat is supposed to be for 6 people. We were explicitly asked how many people we were (we were 6). However, the following items were not provided for 6 people: cutlery, pillows (for 4 people), blankets (for 4 people), and towels (for 5 people). Staff: We received a brief, brisk, and mildly friendly briefing. Based on the current weather forecast, we inquired with the owner about the conditions at sea regarding wind and waves (since the Windfinder app indicated such favorable conditions) and asked if our planned route would be feasible that day. According to the owner, it would have been no problem. Unfortunately, we discovered that this was not the case. The waves were far too high, making it impossible for us to follow the route, which led to considerable difficulties, particularly on the first day. Furthermore, we had a problem with the boat from the very beginning. In the first two bays, we repeatedly experienced starting problems. The boat would only start on the third attempt at the latest. Since it would eventually start and even function "normally" at times, we didn't suspect anything amiss. Unfortunately, this proved to be our undoing. . ... The conclusion – yes, we had problems, we were in an area where we shouldn't have been, but due to the wind (which the owner said would have been fine – it wasn't!) and another failed attempt to start the boat, we ended up where we were. We never ran aground – and therefore didn't damage the hull. The only problem we had was that we were caught in a 3cm diameter rope (the standard buoy line used by boat rental companies), and we wanted to free it properly and without damaging it. During this rescue attempt, as we drifted further and further away, we lightly touched a small boat. This resulted in a minor scratch (which the police ultimately dismissed), and we settled the matter with the owner on the spot. After successfully freeing ourselves, we were able to leave. The rope was undamaged. In hindsight, our over-cautiousness was our biggest mistake. We didn't want to damage the rope, and that was indeed our biggest error. If we had simply cut the rope and returned it to the owner, we wouldn't have been filmed and verbally abused by a crowd, and the small boat wouldn't have sustained a single scratch. Luckily, there was a kind person in the crowd who ultimately helped us. Afterward, we returned to the Medulin harbor with a properly functioning engine. The next day, the engine also worked for a trip of about 40 minutes. Suddenly, the boat braked abruptly, and one propeller stopped working. We then contacted the owner and followed her instructions. We were subsequently accused of damaging the boat by following her instructions. Ultimately, we are also accused of destroying the entire engine. However, I'm just wondering how we were able to operate the boat for about an hour on the same day and for about 40 minutes the next day with a working engine, especially since the owners turned the boat around in the harbor with two working engines upon arrival. Until the very end, when we left the boat at the owners' request, the engine itself always worked. Unfortunately, we don't know what happened to the engine after that. The engine was always running for us; it just couldn't transfer its power to the propeller. Additionally, the technician on site told us that the shift activator was broken, not the engine. Naturally, all the friendliness had vanished – understandably. However, to immediately start shouting shows a "strong" character. Initially, a normal basis for conversation was no longer possible. Things calmed down again, but only in person. Written communication was anything but amicable. Yes, we are aware that we made mistakes, but we were always cooperative, never abusive in our communication, followed all the owners' instructions, and only set off on their advice in the first place. And we don't know if the boat was in perfect condition from the beginning; we haven't received any proof of that. And we don't know if the boat was in perfect condition from the start. Even though it's a really great boat, I wouldn't recommend renting it because of the staff. As long as everything goes smoothly, it's no problem, but as soon as there are issues, you can't have a normal conversation with these people anymore.
We had two great days with the BlueGreen. Unfortunately the weather was not good on the third day and so we returned the boat early.
It all started well, but in the end I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth... The boat wasn't full of fuel when we took it over. We accepted it anyway. We filled it up with what we needed. When we took it over, the owner noticed that the boat wasn't full of fuel, spoke to his assistant about it in his own language (which I understand a little) but didn't tell us anything on site. When the deposit was returned, he kept €210 without saying a word. We explained to him that it wasn't OK, but it was no use... he kept the money and sent us an invoice from his own company. I gave one star less for comfort on the Nord because the second cabin is just oddly designed and a little too small for 2 people compared to other boats of the same size.
