Why charter a yacht in Santorini ?

Sail beneath the Greek sun and on the blue waters of the Aegean Sea, and  enjoy the authentic Greek cuisine and the wonderful scenery in the background, with the white facades of Santorini's little houses!

Santorini is part of the Cyclades Islands, and is in its own right a mini archipelago, incredibly beautiful, nestled in the Aegean Sea in the form of a ring composed of 5 beautiful picturesque islands. Despite its well-deserved popularity, Santorini attracts attention not only for its tourist attractions, but also for its stunning nature, rugged terrain and volcanoes.

Rent a motorboat, sailboat, catamaran or yacht, take the opportunity to explore the most remote and hidden corners of Santorini's coastline, to swim at wild paradise beaches or even in the open sea, dive or snorkel in search of breathtaking views of the underwater world and its unique marine life.

And if you want to visit the other Cyclades Islands, check out a yacht charter in Mykonos as well.

What to see and do in Santorini

Santorini got its name from the Venetians, who worshipped it and called it Saint Irene. It is a volcanic bay within the ring that lies south of the Cyclades Islands archipelago. The Santorini Caldera, formed by the remnants of successive volcanic eruptions, is widely known for its anchorages.

As you approach Santorini by sea, you will be amazed at the stunning view of the island: as if made of porcelain, the white facades of the little houses with blue roofs seem to be carved into the rocks. Absolutely stunning!

Due to its unusual and bright exterior, this island is widely known around the world and is a very popular choice, its mesmerizing landscapes attract hordes of tourists from all over the world. If you don't want to fight for a place in the sun, a yacht cruise along the coast will allow you to enjoy Santorini's magical views firsthand, as well as swim in the wild beaches and secluded coves with total exclusivity.

However, if you want to stretch your legs and walk around the island, Click&Boat recommends the must-see sites for your visit.

Ancient Greece

If you are a history and culture enthusiast, and don't want to miss the major monuments, you definitely need to visit the Akrotiri Archaeological Site. It is also called "Minoan Pompeii", which is quite deserved, as it is a huge city by ancient standards, with incredible architecture, beautiful frescoes, sculptures and reliefs.

You can also visit Fira, an ancient city that offers breathtaking views, as it is located on top of a high hill. Here you will find ancient ruins of temples and theaters, residential buildings and the market square. Walking through the city, you can imagine how people lived here thousands of years ago. And if you want to dig deeper, the city also offers several museums dating back to prehistoric times.

Unusual Beaches of Santorini

If your soul calls for unusual landscapes and scenery, you should definitely visit the Beach of Vlychada: for a few moments you may feel that you are not in Santorini, but on another planet, due to the unusual rock formations, the rugged coastline and the sand and pebble beach, which make this beach different from the others in Santorini.

It is easy to get there from the village of Perivolos, located south of the island of Santorini.

Another totally unbelievable beach in Santorini is the (truly) Red Beach of Akrotiri.

The beach owes its rich orange-red color to the mineral composition of the sand and rocks that cover it. The contrast of colors is made even more attractive by the intense blue of its sea. To best admire the splendor of this beach (and avoid the crowds!), nothing is better than from the deck of your own boat. Renting a boat allows you to reach these more remote locations with ease, while ensuring a tour in complete privacy and exclusivity with your friends or family.

In general, Santorini has absolutely beautiful beaches, but this beauty is different, not standardized. The Perissa Beach, for example, boasts a strip of black sand. All this contrasts with the brilliant blue of the Aegean Sea and the imposing Mount Mésa Vounó, at the foot of which the beach is located, creating a stunning landscape!

Sailing in Santorini

Among other things, sailing is really popular in Santorini. And it's a natural experience of the island in every way: the blue surface of the Aegean Sea is dotted with white sails! If you want to enjoy the views from the coast and suddenly decide to go sailing, you will enjoy the magnificent views of the archipelago in the most authentic way possible! If you feel inspired, set off towards the other Cyclades Islands, or wherever the Greek winds take you!

For some serious Mediterranean sailing, start by sailing to Crete. The trip is not very long, but can take from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the weather conditions. There is no doubt that such a trip will bring you a lot of fun and a whole bouquet of unforgettable experiences!
