Description of Laurent's motorboat

Please read the announcement to the end (and in particular the “NB” below), it can only save us time! The OTAGO is named in homage to the writer and sailor Joseph Conrad, whose first command at sea was a three-masted barque bearing that name. Ours is much more modest and requires less adventurous navigation. It will nevertheless easily take you for day trips (theoretical maximum of 8 passengers, comfort suitable for 6, ideal for 4), or even for a short cruise of a few days (ideal then for two people, possibly accompanied by one or two children). Depending on my availability, I can go out with you if you wish to be accompanied (but only if you have the license yourself: see NB 2 below). Launched in 2013 and carefully maintained since then, it is in very good condition and offers in its 7 meters a double berth cabin with toilet, a convertible saloon with refrigerator, small sink and stove, a cockpit with shower, table and awning to shelter you from the sun or possible bad weather. On the navigation side, you will have a GARMIN GPS - plotter - depth sounder and a VHF DSC for your safety. Ideally moored on a pontoon with easy access to the port of Minimes, it opens the doors to the exceptional navigation site of the Pertuis with the islands of Ré, Aix and Oléron easily accessible for a day trip without hurrying. NB 1: I am not a professional charterer: I rent the family boat, which presupposes a minimal relationship of trust, which is all the easier to establish as a request is not made by an anonymous profile to the unknown project. I will therefore not respond favorably to requests made under these conditions. In particular, there is no need to send me the standard request for a "quote", the rental conditions being those indicated here. NB 2: I am receiving an increasing number of requests to accompany people who do not have a boat license. To avoid unnecessary exchanges, I remind you here that only a holder of a professional skipper qualification can legally take passengers on board without a license for payment. Not having it, I can only accompany a tenant who, holding the license himself, will be the captain. NB 3: I insist in the light of experience on the fact that the capacity of 8 people of the boat is a theoretical maximum authorized, which leaves acceptable comfort if you are going out with young children, but not if you are with 8 adults. In the latter case, you need to look bigger. NB 4: the Otago is a NON-SMOKING boat: apart from the fact that it is not necessarily reasonable to smoke while sitting on 200 liters of petrol, this avoids burning the gel coat with incandescent ashes.

It was a first rental for me. We left at 8: 4 adults and 4 children (9,4,4 and 1 year old) for the day in the direction of the island of Aix for the day then Fort Boyard and the coasts of the island of oleron. The boat is ideal for a day like this with children. The explanations before the start were perfect and Laurent accompanied me to leave and enter the port. Short. It was ideal for a first experience, I recommend.

A great day with Laurent's boat. We were 2 families with 4 young children for a cruise to the Ile d'Oléron and the boat has all the comfort and equipment to allow it. Laurent gave us the best possible preparation for handling, and even made himself available at the end of the day to help us bring the boat back to the pontoon at the end of the day. We recommend.
