We were really looking forward to the day and, after what, in retrospect, was far too brief a briefing, we set off. People asked us if we had any questions, but if you've never driven a boat before, you don't know what kind of questions to ask. So here are my experiences: Get a good explanation and demonstration of the anchor; it simply won't hold in the sand. If you go too far out, you'll be like driftwood; controlled steering in a bit of a swell is really difficult, if not impossible. It just takes the fun out of it when you're just steering and nothing's really happening. The great bays in high season are really crowded, and navigating is a real challenge among all the multi-million dollar yachts. We returned the boat after three hours because it's really no fun with 7 hp. What also annoyed me was that our feedback was dismissed with a sneer. It's a bit irresponsible to let a family with two small children out on the open sea. It's a bit irresponsible to let a family with two small children go out on the open sea. So, it was a great experience, with joy at the beginning and a relatively quick disillusionment. Next time, I'd rather go with a captain and sit back and enjoy.
