Where to sail in Greece: The places you can't miss

  • Dodecanese: Rhodes can be your starting point, as well as a reference in case you want to head to nearby Chalki (or elencos), Simi and Karpathos (or Karpathos), three fascinating islands, perfect for a bit of relaxation. Alternatively, larger islands such as Kos, where you can visit vineyards and numerous gardens, and Patmo, excellent for a safe anchorage at night, await you.
  • Cyclades Islands: the archipelago of the Cyclades Islands is located southeast of Athens and has 210 islands. If you are thinking of chartering a catamaran in Greece, there is no better place to sail in total tranquility while enjoying enchanting landscapes. Famous islands such as Santorini and Mykonos await you here, as well as the smaller and quieter Paros, Nassos and Kalimnos.
  • Dock at one of the ports to discover the culinary delights of the archipelago: Greek salad, seafood and local wine will enrich your meals with lightness.
  • Then there is the island of Delos, also known as the island of history. Apollo is said to have been born here, and legends related to Greek culture still seem to fill the atmosphere.
  • Northern Aegean: another group of islands you should not forget Thassos is probably the most forested island in this sailing area, ideal for short excursions inland, as the trees offer a cool refuge from the summer heat. Have fun strolling under olive groves and pine forests to picturesque mountain villages. Or take advantage of the crystal clear water to enjoy activities such as rafting, kayaking and snorkeling, or even paragliding to observe the brilliant colors of the sea from above.
  • Next, we suggest the island of Limnos, one of the places where you can find some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, as well as a mighty volcano once roared in its center, now extinct.

We sailed to Egine (main marina), Poros (main marina), Hydra (Nikolaos) = an amazing cruise of one week :) Poros is well protected from N winds. It is a wonderful place to visit and there are very nice restaurants. I recommend. We didn't spend a lot of time in Athens. Maybe next time!
