The Pardo 38 was elected Power Boat of the Year 2020. The recipes of the Zuccheri Yacht Design studio are taken up and very well adapted to the new template in order to retain the elegance and the sporty side which made the success of its predecessors. The inverted bow, the carbon T top (which comes from the same supplier as Lamborghini) contribute to its very recognizable family resemblance. The proportions are ideal both inside and out because nothing has been sacrificed for roominess compared to the 43 ’. On board, there is a table and bench which can be transformed into a large sunbathing area, a galley under the hard-top, three frontal armchairs for piloting, four beds and a bathroom for interior fittings. Admittedly, there is a little less space everywhere, you lose the separate shower and you have to lower the cockpit table to make room for the sunbathing area, but the essential functions are well fulfilled. The 160 x 200 cm double bed is very comfortable and the two 80 x 180 cm beds are a nice addition.

The experience of renting this boat was bad. The owner of this boat is a private individual. He demanded a deposit of €20,000. Since this is a large amount and I was afraid I wouldn’t get it back from a private person, we agreed on different terms. The deposit conditions were: €5,000 in cash, leaving my and my wife’s passports, and the keys to a rented Ferrari. Everything was agreed upon and confirmed by the owner, who said he accepted these conditions. However, upon arrival at the boat, the owner no longer agreed to these terms and insisted on the full €20,000 deposit. I provided four bank cards, each of which had the required deposit amount and sufficient limit. However, the boat owner was unable to process the deposit using any of the provided cards. We spent two hours at the boat trying to take the deposit, without success. After two hours, I transferred the money to a Revolut card and then sent him €15,000 by bank transfer and gave €5,000 in cash. After standing on the dock for two hours, we finally rented the boat. Despite the fact that the owner, as a private person, couldn’t manage to charge the deposit from the cards, he did not apologize or offer any discount for the two hours we lost on the shore. In my opinion, the boat owner may have hoped that the rental would be canceled due to the deposit issue and that he could keep the rental fee for himself. The boat cost €3,150 for the day. When he failed to charge the deposit, the owner also refused to cancel the rental and refund the money. I do not recommend renting this boat from this private individual.
