Description of David's sailboat
Sailboat Jeanneau Gin Fizz 11.3m
Jonathan is an authentic boat from the 1980s from the manufacturer Jeanneau. Moored at the port of Canet you can take advantage of this boat for your sea trips all year round. Ideal for coastal walks, you can go cabotage near the coast with friends or family. There are numerous coves in the region and they are perfect for afternoon picnics, fishing and swimming. This armed offshore boat is equipped with everything necessary for long-term navigation. VHF, GPS, autopilot, depth sounder, life jackets, dinghy with engine are on board the boat. It has a 50m mooring with electric windlass. On the sail side, a large tri-radial furling genoa at the front, a battened mainsail with 2 reefs, a small sail on the mizzen. On request, it is possible to take on board a staysail and a storm jib to be placed on a releasable forestay. Optional code D on 65m2 storage tank. Starting from Canet you can admire the coast, then quickly on the Vermeille coast, Collioure, the Hanse de Paulilles in the Eastern Pyrenees, the Cap Béar lighthouse south of Port-Vendres, or the Cerbère-Banyuls nature reserve. On the Spanish side, head towards Cadaqués, Cap de Creus or the port of La Selva. You are 20 nautical miles from Cadaqués, the town of Dali. This boat is in good condition. It has 6 comfortable beds (2 in the independent cabin at the front, 2 in the independent cabin at the rear, 2 in the central saloon), a kitchen area (with fridge, gas stove and oven, sink, microwave) , a shower-toilet cabinet. On board, you will find a kitchen equipped with everything needed for 8 people. In addition to a convertible square, there is a sofa on which you can sleep or rest. Outside, a modular table to enjoy convivial moments with your friends or eat with family... The deck layout has been entirely designed to allow you to manage the boat alone... Overall rating
Renting Jonathan was a great experience for my wife and I. David went beyond my m expectations in supporting and communicating with us. Jonathan doesn't pretend to be a new boat but does exceptionally well for her age.
A great boat, in a boat in its original condition, with an available and flexible owner. A good experience
Very good boat, very nice owner. I recommend it.
We were not able to check the sails at the start because the boat was downwind at the pontoon and the tramontane was blowing at 35 knots in the port (40 to 45 knots outside). The next day, we set sail at 30 knots towards Paulilles downwind. We unfurled the genoa, it was torn on the leech and we could see through it. It was cooked! We were then able to sail under mainsail with 2 reefs and storm jib which was the canvas of the time since we rarely had below 35 knots of wind. David explained to us that the rentals were chained together all summer and that he did not take the time to do all the checks between two rentals. The positive points: Spacious and comfortable boat (there were 4 of us on board), even in bad weather. Excellent battery park. David was accommodating on the rental price to compensate for the inconvenience we suffered. The lesson I learned from this: avoid renting at the end of the summer season. ***Owner's response*** Thank you for your comment. Indeed, the weather conditions did not allow us to check the sails, but the genoa was very tired following all the rentals during the season. For 2025, all the sails are being revised by AZ Voile in St Cyprien, and I have had a new genoa + furler + forestay on the sailboat for a few days…. The lesson I learned from this: check the sailboat carefully upon its return even if the conditions are not favorable!!!
Strong wind and swell from the East then tramontane F5-6 without worries on Jonathan!
David is a very friendly and pleasant owner who works on trust. The boat is 45 years old but is comfortable and well maintained. In addition, it is well equipped for sailing both in terms of instruments and autonomy. We will gladly rent it again.
The boat and the owner are excellent...
Easy to sail and comfortable to live in. We had a very pleasant stay on board. Thanks to David for the handling and advice.
David is a great owner who maintains his boat very well. I wanted to try a ketch, this was the opportunity. The boat is of course a bit vintage, but the price is adapted accordingly. Highly recommended.
I give 5 stars everywhere, because although the boat is from the 80s we really enjoyed our weekend: all the necessary comfort is there and functional. Energy autonomy, for example, is completely guaranteed and the fridge works very well :-). It is a large boat, very pleasant to live at sea, and with character, it is very recognizable on the water. Very practical rear skirt for preparing for swimming. In addition, David is a very welcoming and flexible owner and the handling is quick and efficient. I hope to be able to sail again on this ketch-rigged SunFizz. Thank you for your trust.
David is a very flexible and welcoming owner. He also gives good advice. Its Gin Fizz is in its original form but functional. David provides all the necessary and new safety equipment! The engine is in perfect working order, which is very appreciable! We were the first tenants of the season. The boat having sailed little during the winter, we cleaned up the plasters a little by identifying the weak points of the boat in terms of rigging, VHF and energy autonomy. There is no doubt that David will be willing to resolve these few classic problems when maintaining a Gin Fizz. Thank you very much David for your sympathy and your availability.
Good boat according to its age. The delights of a ketch with the quality of a classic. Equipped with what you may need and more, otherwise David will provide it to you without hesitation. Total attention.
Thanks David
Good boat very seaworthy and well equipped. David is very nice and available, he knows his boat perfectly.
Very comfortable boat with lots of space. David is very accommodating, we had a great week.
