Sailboat Gibsea - Gibert Marine Gib Sea 116 11.6m
Flamanville is an ideal starting point for a sailing tour. And it's even better when you are aboard a very well maintained Gib Sea 116! It's available now on Click&Boat so don't hesitate to contact me! Thanks to its 3 cabins and 4 single berths, it can accommodate up to 10 people in navigation. However, and for more comfort and safety in navigation, I recommend reserving it for only 8 people. Leaving from Flamanville is ideal if you want to discover the Channel Islands of Guernsey, Jersey, Sark or Herm with friends or family. this archipelago is superb and you can spend a few days or a week there, you will not fail to be disoriented! Indeed, the islands of are only about thirty kilometers from the Normandy coast and it is quick to get there! ******************** Promotions: - 10% at the last minute up to 5 days before the reservation - 5% last minute up to 12 days before booking - 10% for reservations more than 5 months in advance - 5% for reservations more than 3 months in advance ******************** Navigate Duty Free: In 2021, Great Britain will no longer be part of the European Community. Overall rating
There are several things to note about my experience. First, the rental price displayed by Click&Boat of €177 per day was found to be very inaccurate, as we had to rent the 1985 GIB Sera 116 for €330 per day, which corresponds to a 12-footer built in 2010 in the Mediterranean in the middle of summer. This really surprised me. Then, regarding the rental, I had to deal with some major inconveniences: check-in and check-out by phone, which I found surprising. The foam-type life jackets were absolutely unusable for sailing, but unfortunately, we had to wear them and make do during the rental weekend. These days, self-inflating life jackets seemed to be the standard, but I guess not. The stove barely worked: the burner caps were original, 40 years old. An hour and a half to warm 1L of water put us in a difficult position from a culinary perspective. The winches lacked self-tailing, no binoculars, no distress flare, and the engine was very temperamental (it only started after two or three tries, but apparently this is normal). This allowed us to reconnect with the Spartan spirit of sailing. And finally: the VHF radio, which only worked once in ten times due to a loose connection between the microphone and VHF radio cords... We felt safe. Two weeks after the rental, and despite numerous email and phone reminders, I have not received any return of the security deposit checks or the VAT refund for the time spent in Guernsey. In short, a very average experience.
It's a good old boat, no comforts, no luxuries. Sailing like it did 40 years ago, and we really enjoyed the wild waters on it!
