Renting a boat with or without a Skipper?

If you want smooth sailing with peace of mind, you’ll find it with Click&Boat! We have a large fleet of boat rentals in Greece with a skipper and those without to cater to your needs. If you don’t have a sailing licence and want a worry-free holiday, there is no better way to achieve this than with a skippered boat rental. Skippers are licenced professionals who will do everything on the boat, including navigating and anchoring the vessel. Your comfort and safety are their priority, and they will review your sailing itinerary to ensure you see everything you want to while in Greece and more. Because skippers are usually locals, they can give you recommendations and take you to hidden gems that you might not have visited otherwise. Of course, skippers can come at an extra cost, but it is worth it for an all-inclusive, customised sailing excursion. What are you waiting for? Make the most of your holiday and opt for a crewed yacht charter in Greece!

If you choose to rent a boat without a skipper in Greece, you typically need a valid boating license or certification and sufficient experience in handling boats. According to Greek law, you must have a valid sailing certificate to rent a boat. The RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC) allows you to charter a yacht in Greece without a skipper on board. The boat owner may require you to provide evidence of your sailing skills and experience before approving your rental.

What is the best time to rent a boat in Greece?

The best time to charter a boat in Greece depends on your preferences and your desired sailing experience. Greece has a mainly Mediterranean climate. This means that the summers are usually hot and dry, and winters can be mild, cool and wet. Depending on where you want to sail when you rent a boat in Greece, the temperatures can be slightly different, but they all follow a similar pattern over the course of the year. The high season, from June to August, offers warm weather, clear skies, and steady winds, making it ideal for smooth sailing. However, this period can be crowded with tourists.

May and September shoulder seasons offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and more affordable prices. If you want to experience traditional Greek festivals and cultural events, consider visiting during Easter, which is a significant celebration in Greece. The high season (June to August) attracts more tourists and may result in higher prices for accommodations and boat rentals. The low season (October to April) offers a more tranquil experience and potential cost savings.

We sailed to Egine (main marina), Poros (main marina), Hydra (Nikolaos) = an amazing cruise of one week :) Poros is well protected from N winds. It is a wonderful place to visit and there are very nice restaurants. I recommend. We didn't spend a lot of time in Athens. Maybe next time!
