Yacht charter in Ibiza · Beneteau — Oceanis 361 Clipper (2004)

Our experience with Sea Side Holiday and Mr. Fernando was unacceptable and raises serious safety concerns. We rented the sailing yacht Bardalin, which was delivered in severely deficient condition, lacking essential maintenance and presenting failures in basic safety systems. Despite these defects, the company continues to charter the vessel without carrying out the necessary repairs, thereby endangering the safety of crews. The main deficiencies identified include: • Inoperative bilge pump. • Water tanks with constant leaks (approx. 30 liters per day), leaving water in the bilge that had to be removed manually with a bucket. • Manual bilge pump unusable due to missing handle. • Alternator out of service, preventing the use of the batteries. • Engine overheating above 1,800 RPM. • Electric windlass with faulty connection, stopping every half meter while lifting the anchor. • Lazy jack broken on the port side. • Mainsail without reefing points. • Chart plotter not working. • Speed log not working. • Forward hatches with broken hinges. • Dinghy punctured, requiring daily inflation. None of these issues were disclosed at check-in. Chartering a vessel in such condition constitutes a serious breach of duty of care and places the crew at considerable risk. On the 5th day of a 10-day charter, the engine failed completely. We were forced to return the yacht to port under unsafe conditions, at night, without any support from the company. Instead of assuming responsibility, Mr. Fernando and Sea Side Holiday unjustly attributed the failure to us, alleging that we were “afraid of the weather,” and categorically refused any refund. Their own mechanic later confirmed in port that the engine was in very poor condition, yet the company still denied liability. This conduct demonstrates negligence and lack of good faith in contractual obligations. We strongly urge prospective clients to exercise extreme caution before engaging with this company. Alquilamos el velero Bardalin, el cual fue entregado en un estado de mantenimiento deficiente, con fallas en sistemas básicos de seguridad. A pesar de estas deficiencias, la empresa continúa ofreciendo la embarcación en alquiler sin realizar las reparaciones necesarias, lo que implica un grave riesgo para la seguridad de la tripulación. Entre las deficiencias detectadas se incluyen: • Bomba de achique inoperativa. • Tanques de agua con filtraciones constantes (aprox. 30 litros diarios), acumulándose en la sentina y debiendo ser extraídos manualmente con balde. • Bomba de achique manual inutilizable por falta de manija. • Alternador fuera de servicio, imposibilitando el uso de las baterías. • Motor recalentando a más de 1.800 RPM. • Molinete eléctrico del ancla con falso contacto, deteniéndose cada medio metro al izar. • Lazy jack roto en banda de babor. • Vela mayor sin rizos. • Chart plotter inoperativo. • Corredera inoperativa. • Tambuchos de proa con bisagras rotas. • Bote auxiliar pinchado, debiendo inflarse diariamente. Ninguno de estos desperfectos fue informado durante el check-in. Entregar una embarcación en estas condiciones constituye un grave incumplimiento del deber de diligencia y expone innecesariamente a la tripulación a riesgos de navegación. Al quinto día de un alquiler de diez, el motor dejó de funcionar completamente. Nos vimos obligados a retornar al puerto en condiciones inseguras, de noche y sin apoyo de la empresa. En lugar de asumir responsabilidades, el Sr. Fernando y Sea Side Holiday nos atribuyeron injustamente la culpa, alegando que “teníamos miedo del clima”, y rechazaron categóricamente cualquier tipo de reembolso. Incluso después de que su propio mecánico confirmara en puerto que el motor se encontraba en estado deficiente, la empresa persistió en negar toda responsabilidad. Este comportamiento constituye un claro caso de negligencia e incumplimiento de buena fe contractual. Recomendamos encarecidamente a futuros clientes extremar precauciones antes de contratar con esta empresa.

The boat, a Dufour 365, is a very good boat, the kitchen is very comfortable and well thought out, the bathroom is very spacious and comfortable. The fridge is one of the best we have ever had. As Fernando told us, this boat is used as a B&B accommodation but it does not sail, the rudder was very hard and made noise, the engine took 4 or 5 attempts to start, giving off a lot of smoke, the mainsail was rotten, the day we hoisted it, the whole leech was cracked from top to bottom, also the handle of the first reef, the second had no rope, the anchor did not go up continuously because the thermal tripped, having to raise it by hand on some occasions, despite asking for it several times they did not give us a tool box. The deck portholes were all cracked and the one at the bow had a broken hinge, so on rainy days we had pots on the floor to collect the water that fell. The staircase down to the cabins was broken and the last step moved when you stepped on it making it easy to fall. There was no hot water either, as they said it was not necessary in summer. It is a shame that, despite being a good boat, it is so poorly maintained. We have been renting boats in different ports and countries for over 20 years and we have never found a boat in such poor condition to sail, much less to rent.

We have enjoyed an unforgettable vacation. Fernando and all the support staff work very well and are a professional team who advise and help you quickly and are very decisive. Price-quality is reasonable considering the age of the boat. Sleeping on the mooring in the center of Ibiza is a unique experience. You are literally 200 meters away from the luxury boats and a walk at night in the area is very beautiful. The best thing has been going to Formentera, which is only 2 hours away by boat and you are in paradise. Fernando helped us reserve a buoy in Espalmador on the Ibiza port page. Super holiday! We had problems with the rented boat and Fernando gave us a much better boat. The experience was very good and we will return to rent next year. Greetings

Excellent dialogue with Fernando upstream to prepare the navigation! We were able to spend one more night on board, which saved us from having to find a hotel. Following a technical problem with the boat I had booked, we were upgraded to a brand new Dufour 37. And, although this new boat has no place in the port, everything has been done to maintain this extra night on the boat. A perfect week in an idyllic environment and on a brand new boat: pure happiness ;-)

The rental was well managed by our correspondent Aurore, available and responsive. The reserved boat being under repair, we had another one a little bigger, tb. The check in and check out well organized, pontoon in the center of Ibiza very practical! The island and its coves are very beautiful and we always find one sheltered from the gales. Fernando has been an accessible, understandable and charming person at all times. In the face of small events, he has responded quickly and efficiently, making us feel accompanied and safe during the rental days. The truth is that it has been a pleasure and luck to end up in your hands. We would repeat tomorrow, moreover, if it weren't because we ran out of vacations we would never have left the ship. It has been a pleasure, really!

Fully recommended sailboat, Fernando was attentive at all times, we had no problems and the stay on the sailboat was very good.
