Sadly a very stressful charter for all. 1. Generator did not function Week 1, thus no air conditioning. 2. Week 2 ...Helm steering failed due to cable shorting and burning in half. Was not able to sail Week 2 .... only motoring on Auto Pilot and running on diesel. More expense than expected. Plus very dangerous.... 3. Week 3 generator failed to work again...after being repaired. The helm steering fell apart again, after being repaired. We had to repair helm steering ourselves in order to continue passage by locking the adjustment nuts with zip ties. Again very dangerous to have failed steering at sea. Noted this was a new vessel....but after being chartered all summer, these issues should have been fixed and maintained. All of this rested badly on me the Skipper and blaming the charter company could only go so far. Partial refunds for week 1 were dispensed. We hope our next charter will be better as we were planning to sail in Sardinia next season...Sailing Sicily Charters has our zero deposit balance, that can be applied to our next charter...but we are unsure at this point if we will charter again with them. Sadly.
