Having grown up in a very nautical sailing family in Ireland I have my whole life, 25 years, of experience. I love anything to do with the outdoors and now that I live in Oslo, Norway, I find my hobbies split very much in two: winter hobbies/sports and summer hobbies/sports. During the sailing season which generally lasts from may until the beginning of October here in Oslo I try to get out on the beautiful fjord as often as possible, while also enjoying getting up to the mountains or forests for hikes. I have been teaching sailing to many different levels on different boats since I was 17 and have taught across Ireland, in Oslo and Boston, Massachusetts. I love sailing, the water and being able to transfer knowledge and passion for the sport to other people. I have enjoyed sailing many regattas, such as the Cowes week regatta and fardig race as well as many long distance voyages. My favourite sailing passage was during 2019 when I sailed with two others from Ireland to Iceland. We sailed aboard a 1958 wooden sailing boat, which took 3 weeks and we experienced every sort of weather possible. One of my most memorable trips was last summer sailing from the Canary Islands to Ireland via the Azores and this was a great learning curve where i learnt how to deal with equipment breakdown and a vast array of problems occuring at sea and how to deal with such issues. I now own a hallberg Rassy monsun 31 which i am living onboard with my girlfriend, Thea, and were travelling Europe (currently south of France). We are sailing east towards Greece and hoping to be in the Ionian at the end of August. We will be sailing to Corsica, the Italian west coast, Sicily and into Greece. Let us know if you are interested in joining us at any destination along this route- the plan is vague but we're flexible :)
