Overall, we (a family of 5, with 3 young adult children) had a very enjoyable week on the boat, and saw some amazing things (including good snorkeling and an awesome swim with dolphins). This being written, some things could have been handled better: - The main issue is that we did not use the sails as much as we would have hoped for. Although this was due in part to the fact that there were times without much wind, there were technical issues as well (see below), and the skipper did not want to use the sails as often as we could have, invoking a number of reasons that did not seem to always make sense to us... - Moreover, the skipper did not want to let women contribute to handling the sails as much as men -“for safety reasons”, or so he claimed (and this even though my partner has more sailing experience than I do...). This led to some unpleasant exchanges and is not acceptable in my opinion. - We left Athens about 2 hours later than planned because the boat needed to be repaired following a small accident incurred by the previous skipper, and because the new skipper that was called to replace him came all the way from Volos (which of course cut on our traveling time). - The anchor did not work at first, something that was discovered only at 9:30pm when we first tried to use it in Egina. Although this was eventually fixed, this is something that should have been controlled before hand... More generally, there was no “checkout” as is customary, so that we did not know the state of the boat as we were leaving Athens. - Related to the above, there was an apparent problem with the main sail, which did not open as it should have, such that the skipper did not want to use it an entire day (but then a technician came to fix this in Ermioni). - There was insufficient and inaccurate information about several aspects of the trip (e.g. the marina where the boat was is not known to most taxi drivers -we have tried several...-the skipper told us one day that we would go to Spetses only to tell us the next day that this would not longer be the case, etc... ).
