Overall rating
Everything is good. Patrick is extremely helpful and friendly.
The boat is old. No problem to stay a week. Needs general handling. Works very well under sail also with motor. Patrick is very available. Annex with electric motor very sufficient.
Very poorly maintained boat and in very poor condition. Among the few pieces of equipment present on the boat, the majority does not work or malfunctions. The engine, very noisy, is old (more than 4000 hours) and its condition is worrying (lots of vibrations). The sails are worn and loose, and tears have already been repaired (Patrick also supplies adhesive to repair future tears). The lazy bag is completely torn and only holds the sail with three additional bungee cords. The manual windlass jams every time the anchor is raised. There is no water pump (no shower). The state of the electrical installation is alarming. We couldn't get the VHF to work, which must be from the 80s.
Great quality of welcome and responsiveness to resolve problems. Check that the electrical system has been brought up to standard (fridge, battery charger, compliance of connections, interior lighting, VHF, etc.). Check that the level of comfort is acceptable to you (cooking mode and cookware, 2nd berth with little engine insulation, etc.). This 88 boat remains very seaworthy, with a good engine and a good tender. But Patrick must finish renovating it to rent it to people other than backpackers, especially in a beautiful and tough navigation basin like that of the North West of Corsica... on this we had a great time between Ajaccio and Galéria for 8 days wind in the nose and too much engine.
The boat is no longer very young and has some problems but Patrick is available if needed
The two of us had a wonderful time on the Mariteo, the boat, although a bit older, is well suited to the coasts and gulfs of Corsica and is easy and safe to operate. Patrick the landlord is on site, very nice and helpful. The equipment and size of the boat offers great comfort for 2 people and is equipped with everything necessary for boat trips, even over several days. Unfortunately, there is no way to get a little shade while driving and when lying at anchor or in the harbor, the existing awning is very low. Nevertheless gladly again.
We had a great week of cabotage with 4 people aboard Patrick's boat. This is a boat from the 80s which has already lived well and which offers relative comfort. Maintenance work has been started but unfortunately delayed by supply problems on the island. However, this did not prevent us from sailing along the coast. In addition Patrick (very friendly) provides good assistance on land and does not hesitate to help you, at sea, in the event of a problem.
DANGEROUS!!! RUN AWAY!!! ATTENTION, the old positive comments of 2020 on the owner and the sailboat concern another boat, which was managed by another person (a certain Sandra) I specify that this message has nothing personal with regard to the owner, rather nice, but completely irresponsible and probably preferring the rental income to the most elementary security, and disguising the problems by tinkering that would shame anyone. any handyman. Boat in terrible condition. Worn sails which do not correspond to the boat and therefore cannot be adjusted, we sailed with a constant mainsail reef, because they were too big, and we were never able to trim the jib, because the trim was too long (the same jib filed down, patched torn by a wind of less than 10 knots).... The list of problems is very long: mainsail halyard with torn sheath at the masthead level, all portholes split and therefore not watertight, gas stove with broken adjustment knobs then re-glued, then re-smashed, then re-glued in sloppy work, missing ring on the gas pipe (damaged), dies with protruding strands repaired with scotch tape, cooler with connection directly to the engine tinkered with unprotected wires and connections and bad contacts, clogged sink, toilet out of order, cupboards that won't close... and a brand new solar panel that is dangerous for any operation of the jib! Mainsail discovery sheet with 1.5 m of maximum travel (attached by a simple half hitch) a ridiculous lanyard as a furling end. As a result, we were not even able to make an inventory of the fixtures as there were so many problems, we left very late with the express intervention of the master sailmaker (for slats and sheets and driss), without the boat's papers, and with a incredible number of malfunctions, so much so that the owner, who never offered the slightest reduction or refund, offered us to stay two more days. As the jib was torn and a stanchion had broken (due to old age and severe corrosion) we weren't really able to take advantage of his offer. The boat, which is ABSOLUTELY NOT ABLE TO SAIL, was still going to be re-hired three days after us, disregarding my warnings in terms of basic safety. I had to take all these problems in photos and videos to be sure that a trace remains.... It is the concern for the safety of the renters that pushes me to write such a message....
Very good stay on Sandra's Kelt, I recommend! Owner attentive and very accommodating. The boat is clean, very well equipped and fitted out.
Sandra is a very accommodating owner who is committed to allowing you to have an excellent cruise. His venerable KELT 8, over 40 years old, lives up to his reputation as a reliable boat, easy to handle, safe and good walker. The project was to introduce and enjoy cruising in habitable accommodation and the Corsican moorings to my 2 little boys aged 7 and 9, it's totally successful!
Spending a fortnight very well, too much sun ? and the bikini was missing because of the covid, pleasant sailboat, very friendly and attentive owner always present if there is a problem.
