BWA 550 – 40 HP (Maximum capacity 4 people) Compact and easy to handle, the BWA 550 is the ideal dinghy for those who want to explore the wonders of the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area in complete freedom: Engine: 40 HP—drivable without a license, with low consumption and enough thrust to cover the entire coast. Comfort on board: large bow sundeck with cushions and ergonomic driving seat. Equipment included: awning to protect you from the sun and fresh water shower for a quick rinse after swimming. Reduced draft: allows you to approach shallow coves and beaches without problems. With just 5.5 meters in length and its pronounced V-shaped hull, the BWA 550 combines stability and agility: perfect for small groups or families of up to four people who want a day of relaxation and adventure. Recommended itineraries West side – “Torre delle Stelle” route (about 10 minutes of navigation from the port to the first cove) Cala Pisanu – sandy cove sheltered from the mistral, ideal for the first dive. Porto Sa Ruxi – granite cliffs and clear seabed: excellent light snorkeling. Piscadeddus – crystal clear water, sandy seabed that makes anchoring easy. Cuccureddus – just 10 minutes from the port, perfect for those who want to stay close but avoid the crowds. Campulongu – long protected bay, ideal for lunch on board thanks to the usually calm sea. East side – “Serpentara” route (more varied navigation, recommended for the whole day) Isola dei Cavoli – historic lighthouse and seabed rich in life, unmissable for snorkeling. Cava Usai – small beach nestled between rocks, often not very crowded. Cala Burroni – turquoise waters and perfect scenery for photos. Porto Giunco – the famous “postcard” of Villasimius, with the lagoon of flamingos in the background. Punta Molentis – strip of white sand protected by pink granite rocks. A bit of wear and tear on the boat but other than that a great service.
Unfortunately, we can't share the positive reviews. We were really looking forward to the boat shown in the pictures. However, when we arrived at the harbor, we were greeted by a much smaller and older boat, which also wasn't a BWA (built in 2023) as originally stated. The overall condition of the boat was very poor: There was hardly any air in the tubes, the rubber was brittle and peeling in many places. Numerous screws were bent and had sharp edges – our 6-year-old nephew even cut himself on them. Some of the upholstery was torn and no longer held to the Velcro fasteners. When we pointed out that it wasn't the boat described or an equivalent, the only response was that the engine was new – and that, after all, was the most important thing.
I rent about 10 boats of this type per year, and this is the first time I've left a negative review. I'm sorry, but I hope it helps improve things. 1. The boat's 40hp engine is limited to 4,000 rpm. This makes the boat sluggish at the start and brings it to a maximum speed of 13 knots. As a result, the boat has difficulty planing, especially in even light swells. The rental company denied this, but an engine that doesn't exceed 4,000 rpm is either limited or faulty. 2. The sunshade is broken at all junctions. I have two children, and the sunshade is essential during breaks and lunch. This one didn't stay in place for more than two minutes before breaking apart and falling on us. While I was swimming next to the boat, the rate dropped, and I was hit by a frame in the face, slightly splitting my palm. Luckily, it was me and not one of my daughters. I should add that there was little wind… The charter company simply said, "You just have to re-socket it when it comes apart" and "Sorry about your palm"… a bit of a stretch. Conclusions. Sailing wasn't very pleasant with this restricted engine, and now anchoring was impossible, even dangerous, with this cover. For the first time, I brought the boat back at 1:30 p.m. even though I had paid for the day…

We were well looked after, the boat was in good condition, reliable, safe and adequate. They charge gasoline separately in cash, it cost us 60 euros for the whole day. I would recommend it, the coves are very beautiful and we had a good day.
