Hello everyone, The Surprise is very popular in France, able to adapt to all programs. More than 1800 units have been built and are currently sailing in Switzerland, France, Austria, Germany, etc. The Surprise can meet several programs: it is a very interesting dayboat. Its large cockpit and clear deck plan allow it to spend pleasant moments. In navigation, the Surprise is not very technical and its maneuvers are easy. It is a safe sailboat that can give a lot of pleasure in coastal strolls while having fun and having a good time. For sheet eaters and regatta lovers, its hull will give extraordinary sensations. Very lively in light airs, it will be able to keep sail for a long time. It is one of the rare sailboats, of the time, to be able to make a very good course close-hauled without losing speed while being able to plane downwind. And this one-design is very active with a very dense and varied calendar in one-design. Finally, when cruising, this sailboat is safe and can give a lot of pleasure to a couple with two young children for example. Inside, a double berth and two benches can accommodate the crew. A gas stove, a cooler, a chemical toilet and some storage space will allow you to live a few days in pleasant camping-type comfort. The boat is perfectly as described and very pleasant to sail. The video and paper explanations are very clear, and Antoine is extremely prompt and available in communication. Baobab is old, but it's perfectly maintained and functional. Very simple layout, perfectly suited for day sailing. Remember to take a little time at the start and finish. Would do it again.
Enjoy your stay aboard Baobab Express. A minimum of comfort for maximum cruising! No tender on board, which limits anchorages. But it's a good little boat, perfect for two or three days. Be careful, taller people. You'll only fit on the bench seats, not the double berth.

We spent 3 days aboard Baobab Express to tour the Ile de Ré in mid-July. Antoine was very helpful and his explanation video is perfect for getting to grips with the boat. It is as described, the comfort is limited but it is perfectly suited to trips of a few days. Lively and pleasant to handle in light and moderate winds as well as in the harbor, just a pleasure!

Everything went pretty well, Antoine was very responsive. Unfortunately, it was not indicated in the ad that the boat could not go more than 6 miles from a shelter, which made us review our plans. The boat was very fun to handle, light and responsive with a draft allowing safe navigation around La Rochelle.

I wanted to go out for 4 days with my two teenage sons in fairground/sports/school mode. The Surprise is the ideal boat for this kind of plan: great sailing pleasure in all weathers on an exceptional boat for its category and which does not age. Great stay with Antoine's sailboat! Really nothing to complain about, Antoine and his wife are adorable and will not hesitate to recommend the best walks in the region. The boat is very clean and in good condition. It is very nice to sail with a little wind. We put 4 stars for the comfort because there is a lack of toilets on board, but it is indicated in the advertisement. We had a great weekend on the boat! To be redone without moderation.

Antoine provides good advice and is very responsive to any questions asked. His Surprise boat "Baobab" is a small boat extremely manoeuvrable and responsive, a little spartan but very pleasant to pilot! Perfect for a small outing at sea. Only downside the reverse gear of the engine had a little problem just before our rental, but we had been warned and all went well. I highly recommend Antoine and his Surprise!
