Boat rental in Palma de Mallorca · Bavaria — 46 Cruiser (2015)
Description of Jose Antonio's sailboat
Sailboat Bavaria 46 Cruiser 14m
A modern and ambitious design, along with a highly sophisticated overall concept, characterizes the new Bavaria Cruiser 46. This magnificent sailboat is the result of a collaboration between the shipyard, Farr Yacht Design, and BMW Group Designworks USA. It has garnered a large following among owners who sail with their families or groups of friends, as well as among charter companies. The Cruiser 46 is available with four cabins. The deck is remarkably clean and elegant, featuring flush hatches, a large and functional cockpit, and a fold-down transom that transforms into a spacious swim platform when at anchor. Below deck, the 46 boasts a total of three bathrooms. The two double cabins forward can be converted into a giant cabin. As is typical of Bavaria Yachts vessels, the 46 offers ample storage space, both below deck and in the cockpit. It has two helm stations but is also equipped with dual steering with two independent rudder blades, a feature that means added safety and performance.

Overall rating
The person we dealt with Jose (the owner / boss so far as i could work out) was aggressive and unpleasant as soon as he had our money. We paid over Euro3500 for basically 2 days sailing - 30% more than we did for a far better boat through Samboats (we hired 2 boats for a big party). The 46 foot boat Jose provided was pretty old and tatty; he charged us extra fuel and failed to provide towels or blankets despite us renting for 2 days. The only good thing was the skipper, who was delightful but unconnected to the owner. I would strongly encourage you to avoid this company
José and the IBY team have been fantastic. We had a great week on a stable and comfortable boat. Exactly what we were looking for.
Isabella exceeded our expectations as a skipper making great location recommendations each day, keeping us safe, and warmly connecting with everyone in our party! Highly recommending the boat, skipper, and service. Already dreaming about our return trip. Thank you!
Great sailing weekend. Perfect communication and hand-over. Boat is old and thus lot of small issues that do not matter for a short trip or safety but decrease overall comfort. But for a 10y charter Yacht this is clear anyway. Would re book again and again!!! Thank you ;)
Jose was an absolute gentleman and helped with everything we asked of him. We would 100% charter from him again.
Thank you José for the welcome and the boat ! It was perfect, it met our expectations.
Amazing trip, beautiful boat. Jose made it such a memorable experience. He provided a paddle board and snorkels, we brought on our own drink and food and had the best day
The yacht was in good order albeit a set of life jackets would have been useful. Thank you Jose
So everything was OK, or rather as expected. It's a bit cramped for 8 people to sleep on, and the skipper had to sleep in the living room. The boat is a bit old and has certain signs of wear and tear everywhere, which you can't see in the photos, as they are probably not up to date.
Communication with the captain of the boat was terrible, he never answered messages, he never gave us information about the things the boat had on board, we were unable to participate in the tour to the point that due to lack of information 3 people decided not to travel, they did not give us information about supermarkets, about the cost and cancellation procedure. They also did not give me the change of 80 euros, we rented a Dinghy that we did not have at our disposal, the engine broke, during a stretch we ran out of water, the skipper did not collaborate with the trash, he left the wrapping papers of his protein bars in the cockpit, we never knew how much fuel he used and they charged 315 euros just because. I could go on and on. The truth is that I would not recommend them.
We had specifically looked for a sailing boat without a skipper on the portal and selected that. Unfortunately, they then said that the boat would not be rented without a skipper for a day trip. And we had to pay €250 for the skipper and €150 for fuel in cash on site. Unfortunately, this was not noted in the booking, so we were more or less forced to take a skipper because I could no longer cancel and the landlord also said: "Either cancel and you won't get anything back or you'll take a skipper." The skipper himself, Max, was great, it wasn't his fault.
From the beginning, both Jose Antonio's management and the condition of his boat were disastrous. We really took a lot of risk during navigation, and both the planned trip and the day at Aunt were conditioned by things as basic as the lack of a depth gauge or a useless outboard motor. We are very disappointed with the overall experience and I hope you don't rent it in this condition again because something really could happen.
Great attention from Isabel
It was perfect. Jose and his team were always at our side. I will book more often.
Good value for money Very nice home very recommendable
Everything was super nice! Thank you Jose Antonio!
A penalty of management by Salvador. He did not receive us when he arrived at the ship (he was sailing) or when he returned the ship. The reservation started at 10 but I couldn't leave until 1 because they were cleaning it. A colleague came who was very quick to collect but refused to show us the boat because she was also sailing... the conditions of the boat were terrible; loose screws, old and poorly maintained materials. As if that were not enough, we rented him an outboard with a motor and the motor (very old) stopped working on the second day and the boat deflated every 2 days. When I contacted Salvador, he told me that it was normal and that the engine had been serviced and that he was not going to take care of it (half laughing). The photos of the boat reservation do not match the original boat and we have left the gas tank fuller but there has been no refund. Frankly shameless, I do not recommend anyone to book with this man. He doesn't call me and decides to take my bail out entirely.
Sailing in the Mallorca area is spectacular. The boat was very comfortable and had everything you need to have a great time. Pablo was a luxury captain who showed us the best spots on the island. Jose was always attentive and willing to help.
The ship was very old. Technical defects in the sails, lines, winch handle, ...; Safety equipment (e.g. life ring) in lockers instead of on the ship. Few extra ropes. Amenities: cheapest plastic crockery, no coffee mugs, ... Cleanliness: many dirty-looking and worn corners and edges. (Certainly not acceptable for cleaning costs of €200). Plus point: Booking Thursday to Sunday was possible, unlike other charter companies. Jose was very friendly, no time-consuming acceptance tests before takeover/after return, missing technology was compensated for with pragmatic tablet provision. In the end a good price with optical and technical defects (however sailable in good weather !!!), good location in the RCNP harbor.
