Boat rental in Paros · Hanse — 540e (2008)

We rented the boat as a family, and unfortunately, the whole experience has been a disaster. First of all, the skipper was unable to use the mainsail since the beginning of our trip due to a problem with a rail on the mast. As a result, we have been using the engine the entire time; not exactly the experience we expected when renting a sailboat. After a few days, the swim platform detached from one of the hinges, making it unusable, as it had to be kept closed. This completely ruined our experience, as it made swimming from the boat very difficult and dangerous. There was no easy or safe way to get in and out of the water, especially given the boat’s high freeboard, and getting back on board was only possible by pulling ourselves up with a rope (which we didn't manage to). In addition to that, the cockpit sunshade tore, making it impossible to stay outside during a sunny day in July. The skipper attempted to repair it, but the fix left it hanging very low in the cockpit, almost touching our heads, which made life on deck, such as eating or relaxing, extremely uncomfortable. The boat is in very poor condition overall, with several parts either worn out or constantly breaking. All of this has made our holiday completely different from what we expected, and certainly not what we paid for. The skipper did his best to help us, but the owner was absolutely a nightmare to deal with. He denied everything and offered no compensation whatsoever, despite the fact that, when we returned to port, there was already a truck with a crane arm waiting at the edge of the pier to remove the swim platform. We advise caution to anyone considering renting this boat. Despite claims that it has been recently refitted, it is actually in very poor condition.

The yacht was provided on time and all agreements were fulfilled. Nice big reliable boat. Good sails and rigging, long anchor chain. Economical, reliable engine. The electric platform thruster and gangway work well. Enough mooring fenders and spare ropes. Spacious mess deck and cockpit. The toilets are in good condition. Good bed linen. The running and parking lights are OK. Minor cosmetic updates required. Sociable and responsive owner. Always in touch and happy to help. Costas is a great person and professional. He communicated extremely well with us during our trip and was always mindful of every single trip detail. We visited many beautiful islands and the boat was comfortable for my family of 4.

Great trip on Costas’s boat. It was well equipped and comfortable and clean. Costas was great at communicating with us and answering questions. It was our first sailing trip and asked a lot.
