Houseboat Pedro 1020
Stay on the Blavet – Charming cruiser with terrace, for cruises or winter quay stays Albatross is a lovingly restored 10-metre Dutch Pedro 30 cruiser, moored in the peaceful village of Saint-Nicolas-des-Eaux. With her wooden finishes, cosy interior and sunny terrace deck, she’s the perfect way to discover the beauty of the Blavet Valley — one of Brittany’s most enchanting waterways. Sleeps: 4 adults + 1 child Cabins: V-berth forward, double aft, and a narrower berth in the wheelhouse (ideal for a child) Bathroom: Shower and toilet Kitchen: Gas hob, fridge, full cookware and crockery Features: Bow thruster, solar panel, diesel heating, 12V and shore power Mooring: Private berth with electricity and free parking A different kind of escape Albatross isn’t part of a big fleet — she’s been restored by hand, with care and character, to offer something calmer, slower, and more personal. From April to October, she’s ready for gentle self-drive cruising — no licence required. After a friendly handover and help through your first locks, you’ll be free to wander shaded towpaths, pause beneath stone bridges, and moor up in villages along the Canal de Nantes à Brest. All linen, towels, cleaning products, heating and hot water are included, along with a fully equipped kitchen, WiFi (where available) and TV with Firestick. A small welcome pack and souvenir logbook complete the experience. When the locks close for winter (November to March), Albatross becomes a snug riverside hideaway. With diesel heating, a well-equipped kitchen and the quiet of Saint-Nicolas-des-Eaux just outside your door, it’s the perfect spot for walking, cycling, paddling or simply curling up with a book while the river flows past. Along the way On the cruising stretch you’ll find: • Shady towpaths and old stone bridges • Weekly markets in Baud and Pontivy • The cliff-side Chapelle Saint-Gildas at Bieuzy • Mini-golf and cafés in summer • Direct access to the Véloroute 8 cycle path Prefer to linger in the village? Saint-Nicolas-des-Eaux has year-round charm, with riverside cafés, walking paths and plenty of Breton character.

Noël and Alison provided excellent advice throughout our family stay (both before departure and on arrival). The Albatross is a very well-equipped barge. We highly recommend it.

It was a wonderful experience cruising across the canal on the Albatross. The boat is easy to steer, and everything on board is well-designed, functional, and lovingly crafted. We rented the boat for three days and traveled from Saint-Nicolas-des-Eaux to Pontivy and back, and then a short distance in the other direction to the Chapel of Saint Gildas. The area is beautiful, and the lock keepers are very friendly. Communication was also straightforward. It was a very relaxing tour; it's great to sit on deck and eat together. If the sun gets too hot, you can open the top. Special praise goes to Alison and Noël, the boat rental companies. Even before the trip, they provided us with comprehensive information and answered all our questions directly. The welcome was very warm, and we received a detailed introduction to the boat, as well as a basket of delicious local specialties and even fresh bread. When there was a small technical problem, which can happen from time to time, Noël fixed it in no time. They were always very welcoming, and we felt very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you can cook without any problems. If you don't feel like it, there are also delicious restaurants in Pontivy and Saint Nicolas. The beds are very comfortable for a boat of its size. We had cozy fleece blankets when we were still on deck in the evenings. In short, it was an all-around successful short boat trip, which we highly recommend, especially to anyone looking to slow down. The nature is truly beautiful, the boat is uncomplicated, and the owners are simply fantastic!
