Overall rating
We rented a boat from this company with high expectations, but unfortunately our experience was marred by a number of maintenance issues, unclear communication, and a general lack of care from the staff. Boat condition & equipment: The septic tank was almost full from the start, and the gauge was stuck at 75% the entire trip, making it impossible to judge when it needed emptying. We were told both water tanks were full, but one was nearly empty. Only one tank had a working level indicator. Several sailing-related issues: sails were not properly set, leech straps needed re-adjusting, and there was only one winch with a lock, limiting what we could do. Safety and convenience problems included: cockpit tables that could easily fall, drinking glasses made of breakable glass, and only one very long rope available for mooring. The service/main battery dropped to ~10.5 V overnight even with almost everything turned off, triggering alarms. Navigation equipment had faults — the depth gauge didn’t work. The dinghy and oars were not secured. The sink in the galley was leaking. The stove initially did not work (this was fixed quickly before we left the marina). Cleanliness & kitchen: Bed sheets had visible blood stains. The kitchen had mismatched and impractical equipment: a Teflon frying pan but only metal utensils, no dish soap, and no kitchen towel. Communication & service: No helpful explanation of sailing culture in Greece, which caused misunderstandings at marinas. Check-in and check-out rules were inconsistent and poorly communicated: We were told last-minute (on the day we called) that we had to return to Mandraki between 17:00–18:00 the day before checkout, even though this was not in any paperwork or mentioned at check-in. One staff member insisted we leave the boat sharply at 09:00, but later another told us we could stay longer, which was nice but confusing. In most cases, when we mentioned the above issues, the response was dismissive, as if these problems were normal. Overall While the scenery and sailing itself were enjoyable, the state of the boat, the lack of care and clear communication from the company did not meet our expectations considering the price we paid. Many of the problems could have been avoided with proper maintenance, preparation, and customer service.
Thanos and his staff were very nice and helpful. The boat was in very good condition. I would like to charter again in the future at Thanos in Rhodes. Many thanks to Click&Boat for the good placement service.
