Sailboat charter in Almere · Vd Stadt 41 Norman Deck Saloon (2001)
Description of Roland's sailboat
Sailboat Vd Stadt 41 Norman Deck Saloon 12m
We sail according to the client's wishes. This could include a fully catered romantic trip, accommodations for hikers, or sailing or navigation lessons. The sailing ship Swaene was launched in 2001 and is a Dutch design by Van de Stadt Design. The model is a Norman 41. It is a very robust and stable ship with a lifting keel and bulb! The heavy bulb keel makes for a very comfortable sail, and the lifting keel allows for anchoring or sailing in shallow waters. The spacious, sheltered cockpit offers comfortable outdoor seating. The deck saloon also allows you to enjoy the view indoors in rain or cold weather. Sustainability: We sail as much as possible under sail. For light weather when there is little wind, we also have large sails on board so we can continue sailing even in light winds. When the engine needs to be running, we use environmentally friendly GTL instead of diesel fuel whenever possible. The diesel heater has been replaced with a gas heater, and we heat electrically in the harbor. Roland owns the Swaene and is also the instructor. In his younger years, he served in the merchant navy as a Marine Engineer, where he obtained his Merchant Shipping Diplomas. Roland has experience on oceans and rivers and is accustomed to sailing even in less favorable conditions on a catamaran and over 40 cabin sailboats. Roland's passion: Introducing people to sailing, whether on the Swaene or the owner's own boat. I enjoy helping with winter and summer preparations and provide sailing instruction at all levels. The goal is for owners to get to know their boat better and thus enjoy it more. NOTE: Prices are based on a maximum of 4 people. More than 4 people are possible upon request, depending on the trip.

Overall rating
the boat is ok, but the captain - this is where the value is!!! It was great time, some challenging weather, a lot of good experience, nice talking and sightseeng:))
A lot of ‘mis understanding’ that lead to hidden costs. Yacht was not prepared mechanically nor stocked prior to departure 🤔 No sleeping arrangements nor details of limitations were discussed, one bed had so little headroom, that it felt like sleeping in a coffin ⚰️ Not enough details were shared of condition of water prior to sailing ⛵️ leading to poor water conditions many water plants 🌱 obstructing sailing, so much so that we were stuck for a long time and not clearing these underwater ‘forests’ restricting any movement of the yacht 🙈 Knowledge, that was known by the skipper, but not shared nor discussed, or avoided🙈 One option would have been to discuss with the client and possibly arrange sailing ⛵️ in more appropriate waters 🤔
Wonderful day sailing to the Markerwadden with Roland and the Swaene. Communication in advance was smooth and clear, all flexibility for your own wishes and input. The skipper Roland is very experienced and has safety as a top priority. For us it was not only a fun outing but also a practice day and we wanted to learn a lot, there was plenty of room (and patience from the captain) for that. Many thanks for the wonderful day!
Thanks to Roland for being a great skipper. We traveled as a family, with our 3 young children, and the 4 days went very well. We greatly enjoyed our vacation on board the boat. THANK YOU Roland!
