Overall rating
Good sailing, a high-performing and functional boat. Maurice is responsive and flexible.
The boat's condition is unsafe. I booked Maurice's boat in Pornic for the day with friends on September 10th, and we didn't feel safe. There were only 4 life jackets out of 6, and none of them had safety tethers... the other two were rectangular orange life jackets, making maneuvering the boat impossible. Secondly, there was a lack of information regarding the mudflats at the harbor entrance, even though I had explicitly asked the boat owner about the specifics. As a result, we ran aground at the harbor entrance and had to pay €50 for towing to the harbor master's office. The mudflat wasn't marked on Navionics, the SHOM chart, or any other charts, but it was known to regular users of this port. The harbor master's office told us that the owner was fully aware of it and didn't warn us. I would therefore like to know if it's possible to be reimbursed for the harbor master's fees and report this owner for his negligence. Owner's reply: Hello, Édouard's comment is completely false. There are 7 life jackets on the boat, and it also has a working depth sounder. If he had checked the tide times, he would have waited before entering the harbor. He also had the option of anchoring. He called me, and I told him to anchor and wait fifteen minutes before entering the harbor, which he eventually did, and there were no problems. I don't see why he would have called the harbor master's office. Best regards.
Maurice was super nice. There were a few small kitchen accessories missing, but nothing serious. The water tank for hand and dishwashing wasn't quite full enough for two days, even though we were very careful about our consumption. These are small details that are easy to correct and check at the start. Overall, we were very satisfied with the boat and enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks to Maurice.
Maurice is very friendly and accommodating. However, the cleaning had not been done.
The Mauritius Rush is a very good sailboat and is very well equipped. It is obviously showing its age, but it is very pleasant to sail.
There were two of us and we sailed for two days. A very good boat, pleasant to helm. The interior is spartan. Maurice is charming. Benoit and Sabine
Maurice is very accommodating and the boat sails great. A very nice trip!
We rented this sailboat for the day to sail between Pornic and Pilier Island. The cockpit is small for six people, so plan on four. A few parts are a bit worn here and there; the boat is no longer new. But we had a great day, just for the pleasure of gliding across the water.
We had a great cruise! Everything went very well
Maurice's Jeanneau Rush is a great boat. Maurice was available and super responsive throughout the charter, and understanding after our little incident with the lazyjack (which was not his fault). Aside from the minor waterproofing details (nothing really problematic or structural, and Maurice is currently finalizing these last touches), the charter went smoothly. Maurice renovated the boat, including an excellent brand-new inboard engine that works great, and was very helpful during our approach to the port in rough weather!
Very friendly owner, very good boat. A pleasant day spent on board. Thank you.
A very warm welcome from Maurice, who is friendly and gives good advice. The sailboat is very well equipped with useful navigation instruments. A day charter, for 6 people. A pleasant sailboat to steer, which sails well upwind. Great! A must-do!
A very pleasant stay. The boat is efficient and has all the necessary equipment. Maurice is very accommodating and friendly. Excellent communication. I highly recommend it for exploring Pornic, Noirmoutier, and the surrounding area!
We rented this boat for a leisurely day cruising between Pornic and Noirmoutier. Large saloon for 6, but plan on having 4 given the size of the cockpit. A few slightly worn parts here and there; the boat is no longer new. However, the navigation electronics are top-notch. If you want to sail with a spinnaker, check with the owner beforehand to see if you can have it.
Maurice is very accommodating and friendly. The boat is well maintained and very well equipped for navigation and safety at sea. Functional and cute, it has old-world charm, and you quickly feel at home there. Be careful when parking in the harbor parking lot! The bill was steep.
