Where to charter on the French Riviera: the harbours

With a coastline dotted with well-connected ports and seaside towns, you will no doubt be spoilt for choice when it comes to where to go on holiday.

Would you like to set sail in the eastern part of the French Riviera? Two ideal ports to choose from are undoubtedly Nice and Antibes, or nearby Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat: popular summer destinations and recognised as two of the most exclusive on the coast. They will be a great choice if you want to alternate moments of relaxation in the city with sailing.

Continuing along the coast, we cannot fail to suggest renting a boat in Hyères: characterised by splendid natural landscapes and known for the cultivation of palm groves, it is one of the most fascinating villages in the region. Particularly known for its crystal-clear turquoise sea and important seaside resort, Hyères is not only ideal if you are looking for relaxation, but especially if you wish to set sail to discover the Golden Islands, loved for their enchanting views.

Saint-Raphaël and Fréjus, located between Cannes and Saint-Tropez, can be two interesting options if you are nearby. Two comfortable and well-equipped harbours that will allow you to set sail with ease, whether you are heading east or west.

Moving towards the west coast of the region, Click&Boat's yacht charter on the Côte d'Azur offers interesting bases such as Toulon and La Ciotat, two interesting alternatives to explore the calanques area and enjoy long days of sailing in total relaxation.

The best routes on the Côte d'Azur : not to be missed!

What better way to explore the French Riviera than on board a boat? This way, you will have access to the most secluded anchorages and islands off the coast, accessible only by sea.

Here are some of the routes not to be missed:

Marseille: the most popular port of departure for sailors is the ancient Phoenician city of Marseille. First destination for the French in terms of sailing, the city of Marseille is the guardian of many scenic treasures, such as the famous Calanques National Park. The Calanque de Morgiou is one of the favourite coves of sailors for its splendour and majesty. An unmissable anchorage in a preserved natural area.

Hyères - Hyères les Palmiers is a privileged spot on the French Riviera. By renting a boat in Hyères, you will have immediate access to one of the most precious natural heritages of the French Riviera: the Golden Islands. Off the Giens peninsula, the island of Porquerolles, the National Park of Port-Cros and the island of Levant are real natural treasures offering views of incredible scenery.

Saint-Tropez and Port Grimaud: favourites since the 1950s, they are also of great historical value - why not take a leisurely stroll around the Old Port to admire the luxury yachts moored and sip an aperitif overlooking the sea at sunset?

Cannes - When sailing to Cannes, it is unthinkable not to stop at the Lérins Islands archipelago. Made up of the islands of Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, this wild archipelago is the flagship of the Bay of Cannes. Our favourite anchorage? Between the two main islands to admire the Abbey of Lérins.

Villafranche del Mar and Anse des Fossettes: near Nice, you'll find the beautiful town of Villefranche-sur-Mer and the nearby Anse des Fossettes, a cove of clear water, perfect for a few hours of relaxation.

When is the best time to go to the French Riviera?

In the height of summer, temperatures along the coast can reach 35°C on land, and with an average sea level of 24°C, what a pleasure to charter a boat on the Côte d'Azur and enjoy a refreshing dip during the day!

The ideal months to organise a holiday in the area are between April and October, so a fairly long season that allows you to go out for most of the year.

Do you prefer a quiet holiday away from the tourists? Nothing better than taking the helm during the "Indian summer", when the beaches are empty again and tranquillity reigns in most of the coves along the coast.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in the French Riviera?

The price of a Côte d'Azur boat charter holiday can vary greatly depending on the type, size and age of the boat, the destination and the length of the charter. Prices also vary depending on the time of year that you rent a boat in the French Riviera: demand is higher in the summer (high-season) and as such prices are higher then too. With Click & Boat you can rent a boat that perfectly fits your needs from as little as $100/day up to $2,500/day for a luxury yacht charter. If you intend on renting a boat for a longer period of time and sleeping on board then you can expect to pay from $650/week in the low season or $1,500/week in the high season up to $17,500/week.
