With an excellent performance in coastal and offshore sailing, due to its careful design and structure. The interior of the Bavaria 46 cruiser is spacious and very comfortable, equipped with 4 cabins, 3 doubles and one with bunk beds, with 2 bathrooms, convertible saloon and full kitchen, allowing up to 10 people to spend the night. Our experience with this charter agency started off average but quickly turned sour due to what felt like constant and deliberate attempts by the agency and marinas to extract more money from us at every step. • We were asked by a port to pay €300 just to disembark a couple of passengers who needed to catch a flight - an absurd fee that we were eventually able to negotiate down to €60. • They tried to charge us extra for spending the final night on the boat, even though it was clearly included in our original booking confirmation. • At one point, the skipper forgot the shore power cable while repositioning the boat and we covered his own taxi fare to retrieve it. • And the worst: they ultimately withheld €195 from our deposit, accusing us of clogging the shower drains with sand - even though we never anchored at a beach or swam from the boat in sandy areas. This claim is completely unfounded, and we’re now exploring a credit card chargeback and a complaint via our local consumer protection agency. To top it off, the boat was fairly old, customer service was lackluster, and the skipper was basic at best. What might have been an acceptable, if mediocre, charter experience was completely ruined by the relentless focus on squeezing extra money from us. It left us stressed, frustrated, and unable to relax exactly the opposite of what a sailing holiday should be. Would not recommend, and definitely never again.
The organisation was excellent, as were the conditions of the boats. The value for money for four hours of sailing on the Med was great. We rented two boats, and had one excellent captain who was very friendly, polite, and enhanced our experience. The other captain was angry/rude from the moment we stepped on the boat, we ended up losing time on the boat due to an error of his with numbers. Unfortunately this took away from our experience. Overall we had a fantastic time though. I would definitely work with BDA sailing again, especially Miriam and the colleague on-shore, I would just request BDA filter which captains they work with more dilligently to avoid future upsets. Thank you for a great experience.
