A 16 ans lorsque des amis m’ont invités a venir passer un week-end en mer sur un voilier de location, j’avoue avoir pensé la chose suivante : Pourquoi un voilier? - Pourquoi pas un bateau moteur. - J’ai peut être hésité. -Il n’a fallu qu’une fois. Puis tout c’est enchaîné: croisières entre amis, stages en école de voile, achat de mon premier bateau, préparation en vue d’une année de navigation, essais, puis tour de Méditerranée en solitaire en hiver. Ces souvenirs fabuleux ne pouvaient que me pousser à continuer. En sept mois, je prépare mon BPPV (diplôme de patron plaisance voile qui me permet d’être capitaine professionnel sur des bateaux à voile). Puis, j’embarque comme skipper sur l’ex Charles Heidziek (maxi de la Withebread, maintenant Volvo Race). Quelques charters en Méditerranée, puis une traversée de l’atlantique suivit de nombreuses croisières dans les Caraïbes. Je craque pour un nouveau bateau avec lequel je sillonne les Antilles, les Caraïbes, les Bahamas, le Golfe du Mexique. Alternant navigation, charter, travail à terre dans des chantiers de constructions de bateau, création d’une base nautique à Grenade, traversée retour dans des conditions dantesques, annoncé force onze sur l’échelle de Beaufort par Météo France, des creux de 15 mètres, des ciels d’apocalypse, ou u n b o n h eu r a b s o l u. Un retour en Méditerranée après douze ânées, chargé de souvenirs, encore un séjour à construire des bateaux, puis une maison. Et cela m’a repris, mais cette fois avec l’envie d’enseigner, de faire partager ma passion. Pas le même diplôme. Je passe donc mon BPJEPS, encore sept mois de formation puis mon CS- Croisières qui me donne le droit d’enseigner au large. Après avoir enseigné dans des écoles de voiles en France, je suis venu travailler en Suisse au Bouveret. J’ai donc à cette époque préparé de nombreuses personnes au passage du permis de voile Suisse. Certains se reconnaîtrons et je les salut. C’est aussi là que j’ai rencontré Fides. J’ai ensuite organisé un certains nombre de croisières en Méditerranée, Atlantique et au Bahamas. Assez systématiquement déçus par les bateaux de location avec Fides, le projet a germé de faire partager notre passion avec notre propre bateau. Après de très nombreuses recherches et visites nous avons trouvé Soledonna notre voiler sur laquelle nous naviguons depuis 4 années .Soit environ un tour du monde et demi en Méditerranée. Cela crée une relation de confiance. Cela fait 40 ans que je navigue, je ne sais plus combien de miles j’ai laissé dans mon sillage. J’ai commencé avec la navigation astronomique et j’ai vu défiler toute sorte de moyens de positionnement avant d’en arriver au systèmes de positionnements modernes. J’ai navigué sur des bateaux de plus de 100 ans, sur des trimarans, des catamarans, des praos et des monocoques. Nous sommes maintenant à l’heure des foils du météo-routage du carbone et du Dynema. Je ne dirais jamais que je connais tout car le domaine de connaissance est immense et en perpétuel changement, de plus le milieu naturel dans lequel nous vivons, nous apprend a être humble. Cependant de toutes ces aventures de mer, j’ai accumulé une grande banque de donnée de situations en tout genre qui me permettent d’aborder avec plus de recul et de sérénité les navigations a venir. Je me languis de vous faire partager touts ces trucs et astuces et surtout cette passion qui est devenue une raison de vivre. Défléchir le vent pour tracer un sillage, comme une mémoire de notre passage qui disparaît derrière nous, pour nous montrer que l’important est devant, la bas derrière l’horizon.
